We pick games in all six (6) classes
This is something we do every year and have for as long as we have been on air. We pick winners, we predict scores, and Saturday across the commonwealth, on the “Kentucky News Network,” our guy, “Friday Night Fletch,” will go on air and discuss how we fared. The below are some of the key matchups across Kentucky pitting teams from different classifications all over the commonwealth of Kentucky, literally from Ashland to Paducah and all points in between. Here is how we see it. Win and advance. Lose and hit the lay-up line, buddy!
Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Associate Scouting Director, KPGFootball

Here is how we see the games being played Thursday and Friday in all six (6) of Kentucky’s classifications. These teams are into district play and some of these teams are still building their RPIs which will be important as classification rankings and seedings are crystalizing across the KHSAA. We will start with Kentucky Class 1A.
1A
Middlesboro (9-0) at Sayre (9-0)
An elite Class 1A regular-season finale is on deck as two undefeated powerhouses collide. Middlesboro and Sayre will settle their regular season score on Friday night, October 30, 2026. The game carries massive postseason seeding weight, with both teams ranked inside the Top 5 of the KHSAA Class 1A RPI standings.
KPGFootball predicts: Middlesboro 31, Sayre 24
Game Information & Records
- Location: Sayre Athletic Complex, Lexington, KY (Sayre home game).
- Middlesboro Yellow Jackets Record: 9–0 (4–0 in District 7).
- Sayre Spartans Record: 8–0 (3–0 in District 4).
Star Players
Middlesboro Yellow Jackets
- Deakon Partin (QB): A towering senior gunslinger (6’3″, 215 lbs) who already broke the school’s single-game passing record with 431 yards and six touchdowns earlier this month.
- Amari Houston (WR): Partin’s favorite deep-threat target, who recently set a single-game school record with 279 receiving yards.
Sayre Spartans
- Gage Pennington (QB/SS): The coach’s son and dual-threat catalyst operating under center, utilizing dynamic situational packages to pace the Spartans.
- Isaiah King (RB): A senior anchor who leads a heavy, physical ground-and-pound game.
- Jake Morita (TE/LB): A hard-hitting defensive framework leader and massive target on play-action routes.
Game Handicapping
This matchup is a replay of last year’s regular-season finale where Middlesboro narrowly edged out Sayre 34–27 in a thriller.
- Middlesboro’s Edge: The Yellow Jackets possess an incredibly high-octane vertical passing game. Partin has shown he can blow the top off defenses. Under head coach Hunter Adams, they have scored 35+ points in every single contested matchup this year.
- Sayre’s Edge: The Spartans boast home-field advantage and an exceptionally disciplined structure built by former NFL quarterback Chad Pennington. Sayre matches up physically in the trenches, aiming to control time of possession to keep Middlesboro’s lethal passing attack off the turf.
Winner Prediction
Expect an absolute chess match that goes down to the wire. Middlesboro has shown a slightly higher ceiling against common opponents this year, but playing at Sayre presents a tough environment. Middlesboro’s explosive playmaking ability should prove to be the slight differentiator late in the fourth quarter.
- Likely Winner: Middlesboro Yellow Jackets
Fulton County Pilots (1A, 4-5) at Trigg County (2A, 3-6)
Fulton County will host Holy Cross (Lou.) in Fulton, KY in round one. That is quite the bus ride and the Pilots earned a home playoff game by virtue of winning the program’s first ever district title. Trigg County is coached by Louisville Hall of Fame football coach, Curtis Higgins. This should be a fun one!
KPGFootball predicts: Trigg County 42, Fulton County 34
Current Records
- Trigg County Wildcats (2A): 3–6 overall record (2–3 in district play).
- Fulton County Pilots (1A): 4–5 overall record (2–1 in district play).
Matchup & Handicapping Overview
While Fulton County carries a slightly better overall record into this regular-season finale, Trigg County holds a distinct advantage due to classification depth and schedule strength.
- Class Separation: Trigg County competes in Class 2A, while Fulton County is a smaller Class 1A program. The size and depth advantages generally favor the upper-class program in late-season, non-district games.
- The Common Opponent Metric: Both teams faced Class 1A Caverna this season. Fulton County went on the road and handled them comfortably in a 58–6 blowout. However, Trigg County absolutely dominated Caverna earlier in the season, putting up a staggering 65–19 victory.
- Home Field Advantage: Trigg County has secured all three of their wins on their home turf this season (3–2 home record). On the flip side, Fulton County struggles heavily when forced to travel, logging a tough 1–4 away record.
- Recent Momentum: Trigg County is coming off an explosive 57–20 thrashing of Todd County Central on October 23. Their offense has proven it can score in bunches against teams that struggle defensively. Fulton County fought for a 51-9 throttling against a weak Russellville squad, but their offense may find it harder to move the chains against a more physical 2A line.
Prediction
Trigg County’s offensive versatility and home stadium comfort will prove too much for the Class 1A Pilots to sustain over four quarters. Expect the Wildcats to use their ground game to wear down Fulton County by the second half.
- Winner: Trigg County
Pikeville High (8-1) at Bracken County (2A, 2-7)
The final regular-season game for the Pikeville Panthers features a cross-class road trip to face the Bracken County Polar Bears on Friday, October 30, 2026. Bracken County has struggled this year and the Panthers are rolling in all phases of the game. We like Pikeville here to run the clock before starting their playoff run toward another title.
KPGFootball predicts: Pikeville 45, Bracken County 6
🏈 Game Handicap & Outlook
This regular-season finale is a heavy mismatch between a perennial Class 1A power and a struggling Class 2A squad. Pikeville has bounced back remarkably since an opening-week loss to state powerhouse Christian Academy of Louisville, rattling off eight consecutive victories. Their defense is playing at an elite level, registering three shutouts in their last five outings—including a dominant 51-0 victory over Hazard last week. Conversely, Bracken County enters the week reeling from a brutal 63-0 shutout loss at the hands of Beechwood and holds a 2-7 record overall.
- The Handicap: Pikeville has every advantage in this contest. The Panthers possess a much more explosive offense and a physical defensive front seven that should easily stall Bracken County’s run game. Playing on the road won’t phase the veteran Panthers, who will look to score early, rest their starters, and cruise smoothly into the postseason.
- Predicted Winner: Pikeville
📋 Team Profiles & Records
| Attribute | Pikeville Panthers | Bracken County Polar Bears |
|---|---|---|
| KHSAA Classification | Class 1A (District 8) | Class 2A (District 5) |

| Head Coach | Chris McNamee | Simon Clouse |
✨ Key Players & Stars to Watch
Pikeville Panthers:
- Jeremiah Anderson (Sr., MLB): The physical anchor of a defense that has allowed just 116 total points over nine games.
- Quentin Warren (Sr., WR/CB): A dangerous weapon on the outside who stretches opposing coverages and plays lockdown cornerback.
- Jayden Justice (Sr., OLB/RB): A high-motor edge player who doubles as a reliable physical rusher out of the backfield.
- Brady Ratliff (So., CB/SS): A young, ball-hawking presence controlling the deep third of the field.
- Bryson “Mr. B” Johnson (Jr., LB/RB/FB): Maybe the best linebacker in Kentucky’s 1A. Johnson has made a pair of All-State teams (Big Ass Fans, large school division) already.
Bracken County Polar Bears:
- Ryland Tucker (Sr., QB/MLB): The central piece of the offense, acting as a big dual-threat presence under center.
- Ezra Halloran (Sr., WR/CB): The primary target in the passing game and a crucial senior leader in the defensive backfield.
- Saegen Rosel (Sr., OLB/RB): A physical, two-way player who fights for extra yardage on the ground and plays aggressively on the edge.
2A
Breathitt County (8-1) at Russell (7-2)
If you’re a Breathitt fan you would feel much better going into the matchup with Miles Hollon (All-State QB) able to play. Even without Hollon, the Bobcats are very athletic and can churn out ground and pound yards with the best of them.
KPGFootball predicts: We like Breathitt 38-28 over Russell
Key Players to Watch
Breathitt County Bobcats (8-1)
| Player | Position | Class / Jersey # | Key Highlights / Role |

- Kaiden Benge (#28 – RB/LB): The focal point of the offense, averaging 97.0 rushing yards and 11.3 points per game.
- Hunter Williams (#3 – DB/QB/WR): Dual-threat leader accounting for 12 passing touchdowns and 120.8 total yards per game.

Murray High (3A, 8-1) at Caldwell County (2A, 8-1)
Caldwell County has had a great year and is capable of making some noise in the playoffs. Murray High’s only loss was a six-pointer to 6A McCracken. Caldwell can play with Murray, does Caldwell believe it?
KPGFootball predicts: Murray High 45, Caldwell 21
Game Analysis & Preview
Both clubs enter this highly anticipated October 30 matchup with identical 8-1 records, making it a battle between two of Western Kentucky’s premier Tiger-squads. Murray (Class 3A #3) features one of the most explosive offenses in the state, averaging over 53 points per game. Meanwhile, Caldwell County (Class 2A #10) features a stingy defense allowing just 10 points per game outside of their lone loss to powerhouse Mayfield. Ultimately, Murray’s team speed and multi-phase scoring capability give them a major advantage, having won the last three head-to-head meetings—including a 56-16 blowout last season. A word of caution to Murray, this ain’t last year’s Caldwell team!
Star Players
Murray High Tigers
- Bruce Willis (Sr., QB): The driving force behind Murray’s high-octane offense. A dual-threat weapon at 6’3″, 220 lbs, he sets the tone by pacing the team in both rushing yards (187.0 Y/G) and rushing touchdowns.
- Colin Winters (Sr., CB/RB): A critical two-way athlete who adds massive versatility, averaging 75 rushing yards per game and locking down opposing passing lanes defensively.
- King Williams Jr. (Sr., DE/OLB): The anchor of the Murray defensive front. His ability to create pressure off the edge disrupts opposing backfields and creates opportunities for the secondary.
Caldwell County Tigers
- Daelyn Lander (Sr., QB/CB): The engine of Caldwell’s squad. He leads the team through the air with a 115.0 passing yards per game average while acting as a vital weapon in the defensive secondary.
- Bryson “Cowboy” Ford (So., LB/TE): Ford is a returning all-state player at the LB position and has played very well all season for the Tiger defense.
- Kam “Ox” Wells (So., OG/DL): Wells has been a bright spot as a two-way threat upfront. Maybe the strongest kid on the roster.
- Ty “The Jet” Palmer (So., ATH): Filthy fast.
- Colson Mattocks (Sr., RB/OLB): Caldwell’s primary ground threat, averaging 24.0 rushing yards per game, who also serves as a hard-hitting presence at outside linebacker.
- Kameron Wilson (Sr., RB/OLB): A physically imposing 6’1″, 220 lbs senior who brings critical power and leadership to both the rushing attack and the defensive second level.
Owensboro Catholic (8-1) at Elizabethtown High (7-2)
This game is between two KHSAA heavyweights. Jason Morris at Owensboro Catholic is putting together a Hall of Fame caliber career and Tyler Mattingly (E-town) is doing a fine job showing he can coach with the best of them too.
KPGFootball predicts: O. Catholic 42, E-Town 28
The game is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 8:00 PM EDT.

Matchup Handicap & Outlook
- The Handicap: Analytical models favor Owensboro Catholic by roughly 22 to 26 points. On3 predicts a final margin around 42-20, while MaxPreps’ automated metrics project a similar 52-37 outcome. Owensboro Catholic enters with a dominant 8-1 record, outscoring opponents 417-122, while Elizabethtown brings a strong 7-2 record of their own.
Coaches & Star Players
| Team | Head Coach | Star Players to Watch |
|---|---|---|
| Owensboro Catholic Aces | Jason Morris | Dre’mail Carothers (#6, QB): A highly explosive quarterback averaging 316.9 passing yards per game with a massive touchdown tally. Drew Miles (#1, WR/CB): Carothers’ favorite weapon downfield, averaging 109.6 receiving yards per game. Shaiden Mitchell (#2, RB): Balances the air attack with a physical presence on the ground, averaging roughly 50-100 rushing yards per game. John Paul Carrico (OL): Carrico is among the top prospects at his position in the United States in the ’28 class. He has been offered by all the big boys and at 6’8,” 295-pounds he would know a big boy when seeing one. |
| Elizabethtown Panthers | Tyler Mattingly | Jace Hagy (#3, WR/ATH): A versatile athlete who commands defensive attention all over the field. Antonio Kinzer (#24, RB): The motor of the Panthers’ ground game who will be leaned on to keep the Aces’ offense off the field. Jaylan Sands (#44, TE/DL): A crucial two-way threat who provides size at tight end and anchors the defensive line. |

Just in time for the playoffs, Lexington Christian travels to Louisville to play the Panthers from Pleasure Ridge Park. PRP is a 6A team and presents some issues as its school boasts a rather large enrollment of 1,600-plus. This should bolster the RPI of the visiting Eagles quite a bit entering the playoffs if the boy from Lexington can pull off the victory.
KPGFootball predicts: LCA 48, PRP 14
Team Profiles & Records
| Detail | Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) Eagles | Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park (PRP) Panthers |
| 2026 Record | 7–2 | 2–7 |

Lexington Christian Academy Eagles
Offense
- Nash Whelan (Jr., QB): The reigning state championship MVP returns after throwing for 2,526 yards and 28 touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 1,047 yards and 16 scores.
- Paxton Gray (ATH): Explosive player with a skill set which lends well to multiple phases of the game.
- Matthew Montgomery (Jr. OL): Montgomery is the definitive player along the OL in the 2A classification and beyond. Montgomery is a returning Big Ass Fans, Small School, All-Stater.
- Nick Greer (Jr. OL): Greer primary has played at center and is a returning All-Stater.
- Daven Hood (Sr., RB): A potent backfield weapon who averaged over 6 yards per carry, tallying 578 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
- Bennett Gudalis (Sr., RB): Provided a strong ground presence with 416 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns.
- Conrad Hart (Sr., TE): A towering 6’5″, 225-pound three-star recruit committed to Kentucky.
- Sam Pearson (Sr., WR): Returned 480 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns.
Defense & Linebackers
- Aiden Lyons (Sr., LB): Anchors the defense as the team’s leading returning tackler with 89 total stops and an interception.
- Thomas Sizemore (Jr., LB): Followed closely behind in tackles with 74 stops and 4 tackles for loss.
- Bode Darland (Jr., DL): A disruptive force in the trenches who recorded 54 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks.
Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers:
- Jekari Hayden (Jr., QB/FS): The primary signal-caller tasked with moving the chains and navigating LCA’s aggressive defensive front.
- Calvon Mitchell (Sr., RB/SS): A senior leader who plays both ways and carries a heavy workload out of the backfield.
- Armoni Cheeks (Sr., WR/SS): A big 6’2″ perimeter target capable of stretching the field and picking up chunk yardage down the sidelines.
Game Handicap & Breakdown
- The Trajectories: The Class 2A power Lexington Christian Academy (7-2) enters this matchup on a dominant six-game winning streak. After a bumpy 1-2 start, the Eagles have hit their stride, scoring 40+ points in nearly all of their recent contests while securing their district title. On the flip side, 6A Pleasure Ridge Park (2-7) has dropped four consecutive games. While PRP found some life offensively last week in a 62-32 loss to St. Xavier, their defense has leaked points consistently against top-tier competition.
- The Matchup: Despite the difference in school classification size, LCA operates like an elite big-school program. Their high-octane offense matches up exceptionally well against a PRP defense that has struggled to contain explosive playmakers. PRP’s brutal schedule has tested them, but LCA’s offensive efficiency gives them a massive edge on the road.
Coach Oakley Watkins has the LCA Eagles firing on all cylinders. LCA has spent the last month demolishing opponents, most recently rolling past Washington County 50–14 and Danville 54–14. Their high-powered offensive system historically averages well over 40 points per game, and they hold a significant advantage in depth, line size, and postseason experience.
Pick
LCA’s overwhelming offensive lines and seasoned backfield will likely establish dominance early on the ground. Expect the Panthers to make a few explosive plays using their speed at home, but they lack the overall roster/lineup talent to halt the Eagles’ continuous scoring drives.
- Winner: Lexington Christian Academy
3A
LaRue County (9-0) at Taylor County (4A, 5-4)
The final regular-season matchup for the undefeated LaRue County Hawks features a non-district road test against the Taylor County Cardinals on Friday, October 30, 2026. Taylor County is a 4A team and has usually done well in this matchup. This is a different LaRue team this year however.
KPGFootball predicts: LaRue County 35, Taylor County 21
🏈 Game Handicap & Outlook
This game is a fascinating clash of styles between two teams heading into the playoffs. LaRue County is putting together a historic, magical season under head coach Clay Hooper. They are a flawless 9-0 after a dominant 50-6 blowout against Hart County last week. The Hawks boast an incredibly explosive offense alongside a clamping scoring defense that suffocates opponents. Taylor County (5-4) has faced a more up-and-down season under first-year head coach, William Harris, but they are battle-tested against high-level Class 4A competition.
- The Handicap: Taylor County will have the home-field advantage in Campbellsville, and their robust defensive line can present challenges. However, LaRue County’s momentum is simply too overwhelming. The Hawks’ multi-dimensional attack has answers for every look, and their ability to execute chunk plays in the passing game will stretch the Cardinals’ defense thin. Expect Taylor County to fight hard early, but LaRue County should pull away in the second half to secure a perfect 10-0 regular season.
- Predicted Winner: LaRue County
📋 Team Profiles & Records
| Attribute | LaRue County Hawks | Taylor County Cardinals |
|---|---|---|
| KHSAA Classification | Class 3A (District 2) | Class 4A (District 7) |
| 2026 Record | 9-0 overall | 5-4 overall |
| Current Momentum | Undefeated; coming off a 50-6 victory | Battle-tested; fighting for a signature win |
| Head Coach | Clay Hooper | William Harris |
✨ Key Players & Stars to Watch
LaRue County Hawks:
- Brady Abell (Sr., QB): The field general executing and orchestrating the Hawks’ explosive offensive scheme.
- Romeo Bartolomei (Jr., RB/OLB): A quick, hard-nosed playmaker out of the backfield and a core tackler on defense.
- Braylin McDowell (Sr., WR/DB): A massive 6’4″ vertical target who presents an absolute nightmare match up for smaller corners.
- Colton Nunn (Sr., MLB/TE): The 225-pound physical anchor blocking up front and directing the linebacker unit.
Taylor County Cardinals:
- Hudsen Close (Jr., OL): A massive 6’3″, 298-pound elite blocker who is widely considered one of the top high school linemen in the state.
- Cardinals Core Playmakers: Behind Close’s stellar line play, Taylor County relies heavily on defensive pressure and an execution-heavy, ground-and-pound rushing attack to eat clock.
Danville High (2A, 8-1) at Bourbon County High (3A, 8-1)
Here is the breakdown and handicap for the upcoming Danville High School vs. Bourbon County High School regular-season finale scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026. Danville is coming off an emotional roller-coaster with the death of a member of the team and Bourbon may have the best team it has fielded since Dudley Hilton and the 1997 championship squad.
KPGFootball predicts: Bourbon County 28, Danville 20
🏈 Game Handicap & Outlook
This game is an intriguing, last-minute non-district addition. Danville was originally scheduled to play Caverna, but the matchup was shifted to give both programs a highly competitive tune-up before hosting their respective first-round playoff games next week.
Both teams boast identical 8-1 records but they arrive at this matchup with entirely different momentum. Danville is coming off a bye week, which gave them time to recalibrate after a blowout 54-14 loss to powerhouse Lexington Christian on October 16. Conversely, Bourbon County is riding a dominant seven-game winning streak.
- The Handicap: Bourbon County holds the edge here. Playing at home in Paris, KY, the Colonels feature a highly efficient defense that has allowed just 110 points all season compared to Danville’s 201. Bourbon County’s dominant ground game should control the clock and keep Danville’s dynamic playmakers off the field. Expect a hard-fought battle, but the Colonels’ stellar defense and home-field advantage will carry them through.
- Predicted Winner: Bourbon County
- Predicted Score: Bourbon County 28, Danville 20
📋 Team Profiles & Records
| Attribute | Danville Admirals | Bourbon County Colonels |
|---|---|---|
| KHSAA Classification | Class 2A | Class 3A |
| 2026 Record | 8-1 overall (3-1 District) | 8-1 overall (4-0 District) |
| Current Momentum | Coming off a bye; lost previous game 54-14 | On a 7-game winning streak; won previous game 59-13 |
| Head Coach | Steve Stonebreaker | Tyquan Rice |
✨ Key Players & Stars to Watch
Danville Admirals:
- Braiden Ford (So., TE/MLB): The heartbeat of the team, leading the Admirals’ rushing attack with a 56.0 yards-per-game average.
- Jutayvion Beasley (Sr., RB/WR): A dangerous weapon out of the backfield and in the slot, averaging 35.0 receiving yards per game.
- Trinden Sellers (Sr., WR/FS): Expected to direct the passing game and lock down the deep secondary.
- Mylan Peters (So., WR/CB): A true defensive ball-hawk who leads the secondary in interceptions. [1]
Bourbon County Colonels:
- Madi Bell (Sr., RB): A superstar playmaker coming off an explosive 208-yard, 5-touchdown performance last week against Pendleton County.
- Julius Gregory (Sr., QB): Under center directing a high-powered offense that has put up 404 points this season.
- Tanner Lutz (Sr., RB/OLB): A physical, two-way player who consistently finds the end zone and anchors the linebacker corps.
- Quinton Rice (Sr., WR): The top downfield threat stretching defenses vertically.
Fern Creek (6A, 2-7) at Christian Academy Louisville (3A, 9-0)
Here is the handicap and structural breakdown for the matchup between the Christian Academy-Louisville Centurions and the Fern Creek Tigers scheduled for October 30, 2026. CAL is the best 3A team in Kentucky and (perhaps) the best 3A team we have ever seen in the KHSAA. Fern Creek is a 6A, fourth district team.
KPGFootball predicts: Christian Academy-Louisville 49, Fern Creek 0
Matchup Overview & Comparison
| Attribute | Christian Academy-Louisville (CAL) | Fern Creek |
|---|---|---|
| KHSAA Class | Class 3A (District 3) | Class 6A (District 4) |
| 2026 Record | 9–0 | 2–7 |
| State Ranking | #9 Overall (#1 in 3A) | #162 Overall (#27 in 6A) |
| Points For / Against | 476 PF / 49 PA | 127 PF / 302 PA |

Team Breakdowns
Christian Academy-Louisville Centurions
- Coach: Former Louisville and NFL quarterback Hunter Cantwell guides the elite Centurions squad.
- Star Players:
- Jackson Burke (Jr., QB): The elite signal-caller who broke national records while leading CAL to state championship glory.
- Ja’Hyde Brown (Sr., WR): A highly-rated, dynamic Louisville commit who completely stretches secondary coverages.
- Kellan Hall (Jr., DL): A dominant force on the defensive front lines commanding heavy college interest.
- Micah Newsome (Sr., LB/RB): A hard-hitting defensive anchor committed to Louisville.
Fern Creek Tigers
- Coach: Alumnus Justin Nichols is in his first season trying to rebuild numbers and experience for the Tigers.
- Star Players:
- Javis Wallace (Sr., QB): A dual-threat option working his way back from a knee injury who possesses deep-ball capabilities.
- Kyeshon Young (Sr., RB/WR): A quick, shifty playmaker counts as a centerpiece weapon out of the backfield.
- Peyton Carr (Jr., WR/OLB): Provides vital athleticism as a target on offense and a hybrid edge-rusher.
Game Handicap & Prediction
Despite Fern Creek holding a classification advantage by playing up in Class 6A, Christian Academy-Louisville is overwhelmingly favored in this non-district battle.
CAL operates like an absolute juggernaut across all phases of high school football in the state. They are averaging nearly 53 points a game while suffocating teams to just over 5 points allowed per contest. Fern Creek has struggled with depth and defensive assignments, yielding over 33 points per game against top-tier Louisville schools. Expect CAL’s air attack behind Burke and Brown to strike early, shifting the game into a running clock scenario by the second half.
Picked Winner: Christian Academy-Louisville
4A
Spencer County (7-2) at Nelson County (8-1)
An analysis and handicap of the regular-season finale between the Spencer County Bears and the Nelson County Cardinals. Both of these two teams are Class 4A powerhouses.
KPGFootball predicts: Spencer County 34, Nelson County 24
📊 Game Breakdown & Details
- Classification: Both schools compete in the KHSAA Class 4A classification. Spencer County plays out of District 4, while Nelson County resides in District 2.
- Records: Nelson County enters at 8–1 overall (3–1 in district play). Spencer County stands at 7–2 overall (4–0 in district play).
- Location: The game will take place at Nelson County High School in Bardstown, KY.
- Star Players:
- Nelson County: The Cardinals are orchestrated by senior quarterback Carson Riley (#9), who averages 175 passing yards per game, and dynamic senior wide receiver/cornerback Mason Wells (#0), who anchors the ground game with nearly 100 rushing yards per outing. Wide receiver Hagan Sims (#13) is another lethal option downfield.
- Spencer County: The Bears lean heavily on a high-powered, physical option style that produces a staggering team average of 43.8 points per game.
🏈 Handicapping & Analytical Matchup
This non-district tilt is a classic strength-on-strength battle. Spencer County possesses an explosive offense capable of hanging massive numbers on anyone, evidenced by a 42–0 blowout of Grant County and a 55–35 shootout win over Franklin County earlier in October. They push the pace and run the ball with elite efficiency.[1, 2]
Nelson County counters with a suffocating, stingy defense that has only allowed 111 total points across 9 games (an average of just 12.3 points allowed per game). The Cardinals are perfect at home this season (4–0) and have superb balance through Riley’s arm and Wells’ athleticism.
The defining factor is point differential and schedule depth. While Nelson County has the better win percentage, Spencer County’s offense has a higher ceiling against elite competition and matches up well out of a highly competitive District 4. Spencer County’s relentless offensive metrics give them a slight edge, even on the road.
- Likely Winner: Spencer County
South Warren (6A, 7-2) at Logan County (4A, 7-2)
South Warren enters the regular-season finale as a heavy favorite. The Class 6A, No. 4 ranked Spartans field an explosive offense averaging nearly 40 points per game, backed by a stifling defense. While the 4A, Logan County Cougars, are putting together an impressive campaign, South Warren’s depth, 6A battle-tested schedule, and historically dominant series history (holding an 8-2 all-time lead) give them a distinct upper hand.
KPGFootball predicts: South Warren 42, Logan County 21
Star Players
South Warren Spartans
- Camden Page (Sr. | QB): The field general driving the air attack, averaging 208.9 passing yards per game.
- Jamir Boards (Jr. | RB/DB): A hyper-productive weapon out of the backfield with 19 total touchdowns and a team-high 64.3 rushing yards per game.
- Justin Capps (Sr. | WR/CB): Page’s favorite target, chewing up yardage through the air at an average of 66.6 receiving yards per game.
- Clay Helton (Jr. | TE/LB) & Takyon Darden (Sr. | LB/TE): Elite defensive anchors; Helton leads the pass rush with 4 sacks, while Darden sets the physical tone.
Logan County Cougars
- Lane Bush (So. | RB): The motor of the Cougars’ ground game, spearheading the offense with 98.0 rushing yards per game.
- Elijah Sells (Sr. | WR/SS): A vital two-way player who leads the team in receiving yards (75.0 per game) while serving as a turnover threat on defense.
- Tysean Thomeczek (Jr. | RB/WR): A versatile skill-position threat weaponized through both the running and passing game.
Ashland Blazer (4A, 9-0) at Lexington Catholic (3A, 7-2)
This is a matchup between two elite teams at their respective classifications. This win for Catholic would really boost their RPI entering the playoffs. The matchup between the Ashland Blazer Tomcats and the Lexington Catholic Knights shapes up to be an elite cross-class showdown in Kentucky high school football.
KPGFootball predicts: Lexington Catholic 32, Paul Blazer High-Ashland 21
Game Information & Records
- Where the Game is Played: Lexington Catholic High School (Stadium) on Clays Mill Road in Lexington, KY.
- Ashland Blazer Tomcats: 9-0 record (Class 4A, District 6).
- Lexington Catholic Knights: 7-2 record (Class 3A, District 7).
Coaches & Key Players
- Ashland Blazer: Head Coach Chad Tackett. The undefeated Tomcats are led by a powerful rushing attack anchored by star running back Maverick Ashby (who holds multiple Division I offers) and dominant linebacker/edge rusher Brody Simpkins. Sophomores and juniors like Trevonte Taylor and quarterback Tanner Stutler keep their multi-dimensional offense highly productive.
- Lexington Catholic: Head Coach David Clark. The Knights are a battle-tested squad operating a disciplined, defensive-minded program. Key senior playmakers like receiver/defensive back Ethan Bradford and versatile underclassmen lead an aggressive defense that has posted multiple shutouts this season.
Handicapping & Matchup Analysis
Ashland Blazer brings a flawless record into this game, scoring 37.1 points per game while relying on a physical power-run game to tire out opposing defensive fronts. However, their schedule has lacked the sheer caliber of top-tier giants that Lexington Catholic routinely faces.
Lexington Catholic’s two losses came early against regional heavyweights Boyle County (Class 4A #1) and cross-town rival Lexington Christian. Since then, the Knights have been on an absolute tear, leaning on a defense that plays incredibly fast, physical football. Analytical projection systems favor the Knights due to home-field advantage and strength of schedule, giving Lexington Catholic roughly a 76% win probability on their home turf.
- Likely Winner: Lexington Catholic
5A
North Oldham (4A, 8-1) at Atherton High (5A, 8-1)
This non-district matchup features two dominant 2026 Kentucky high school football programs meeting at Atherton on Friday, October 30. Atherton is favored by approximately 14 points due to their home-field advantage and an elite defense that has carried them to the top ranks of Class 5A.
KPGFootball predicts: Atherton 28, North Oldham 14
Team Breakdown

| Atherton Ravens | Class 5A (District 3) | 8-1 | Anthony “Nino” White |

- North Oldham:
- Brodie Pfeiffer (QB): The driving engine of the offense, averaging 146.5 passing yards per game.
- Ronin Renton (RB/WR): The primary ground weapon, averaging 50.0 rushing yards per game.
- Conner Nesmith (WR): The top downfield target, leading the team with 71.0 receiving yards per game.
- Atherton:

- Jeremiah Briscoe Jr. (WR): The explosive perimeter threat averaging 51.0 receiving yards per game.
Handicap & Game Prediction
North Oldham brings an explosive offense averaging 42 points per game. However, they face an incredible challenge against Atherton’s “Black Hole” defense, which has recorded six shutouts through nine games this season. Atherton handles upper-tier physical competition slightly better at the line of scrimmage, giving them the defensive edge needed to stymie the Mustangs’ run game.
- Winner: Atherton
Allen County Scottsville (4A, 1-8) at Barren County (5A, 6-3

6A
Frederick Douglass (6A, 9-0) at Boyle County (4A, 8-1)

The highly anticipated regular-season finale between the Frederick Douglass Broncos and the Boyle County Rebels serves as a premier clash between two of Kentucky’s elite high school football powerhouses.
KPGFootball predicts: Boyle County 21, Frederick Douglass 20

| 2026 Record | 9–0 (Undefeated) | 8–1 |
| State Ranking | No. 2 in Class 6A / Kentucky Top 3 | No. 5 in Kentucky Overall |
| Game Location | Rebel Stadium (Danville, KY) | — |
| Date & Time | Friday, October 30, 2026, at 7:30 PM EDT | — |
Star Players to Watch
- Frederick Douglass Broncos:
- Dakari Talbert (RB): A dynamic junior running back who serves as the team’s primary offensive engine and leading rusher.
- Demond Green (Safety) & Tacori Fields (LB): Elite 2027 three-star prospects anchoring a lockdown Power 4-loaded defense. [1]
- Boyle County Rebels:
- Seneca Driver (TE/DE): A dominant, nationally-ranked tight end/defensive end in the class of 2027 and arguably the top hybrid weapon in the commonwealth.
- Maddox Hager (TE) & Kain Logan (ATH): Experienced playmakers essential to keeping the Rebels’ multi-faceted offense lethal.
Handicapping the Game
This game brings together historically tight rivals. Boyle County won last year’s meeting 20–13, and they hold a 4–1 all-time regular-season advantage over Douglass. However, Frederick Douglass’s only series victory came on the road at Rebel Stadium back in 2022 during their undefeated state championship run.
The Case for Frederick Douglass:
The Broncos are arguably playing the most complete football in the state. They hold a common-opponent advantage over Boyle County; Douglass handled a top-ranked Highlands team 41–20 in their season opener, whereas Highlands handed Boyle County its only blemish of the season in a 41–21 blowout back in September. Douglass features a relentless defense that has given up only 84 points across nine games.
The Case for Boyle County:
The Rebels are the reigning Class 4A state champions and possess a legendary home-field advantage at Rebel Stadium. Since their loss to Highlands, their defense has been virtually impenetrable, holding subsequent opponents to 13 points or fewer. If Seneca Driver is fully healthy and plugging holes on the edge, Boyle County can stifle any run game.
Expected Outcome
While Boyle County at home is always a formidable task, Frederick Douglass boasts a deeper, Power 4-laden defense and has consistently handled high-caliber teams this season. Expect a physical, low-scoring battle that comes down to the fourth quarter.
- Likely Winner: Boyle County
The Old Rivalry, duPont Manual (8-1) at Male High (5-4)
The regular-season finale for DuPont Manual features one of the most historic and legendary rivalries in Kentucky high school football history: The Old Rivalry against Louisville Male High School, scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026. Manual has been playing much better than has Male but for a game like this one just throws out the records. It is anyone’s game.
KPGFootball predicts: Manial 24, Male 21
🏈 Game Handicap & Outlook
This is one of the state’s premier regular-season closing matchups. DuPont Manual has been close to flawless this year, riding a near perfect record (8-1) anchored by an elite defense that surrenders fewer than 12 points per game. They enter the contest with massive momentum after blowing out Pleasure Ridge Park (51-6) and handling powerhouse St. Xavier (36-10). Male has endured a few bumps against brutal competition—namely losses to state titans Trinity and Frederick Douglass—but their squad is entirely healthy.
- The Handicap: Historically, Male has dominated the modern era of the Old Rivalry, but this year’s Manual squad feels uniquely built to take it. Manual’s offensive backfield provides a continuous grinding run game that wears out opposing defensive lines. While Male has a highly efficient offense under center, Manual’s multi-layered secondary will create critical turnovers. Expect a classic, hard-hitting rivalry atmosphere at Male’s home stadium, with the Crimsons barely edging out the Bulldogs to complete a perfect regular season.
- Predicted Winner: DuPont Manual

| Head Coach | Keith Eckloff | Hamilton C Porter |

- Jeremy Presley (Sr., RB/SS): The engine of the Crimsons’ offense, crushing opposing defenses with a massive 161.5 rushing yards per game. [1]
- Jonathan Despaigne (Sr., QB): An incredibly efficient signal-caller throwing for 128.0 yards per game while protecting the football perfectly. [1]
- Brayland Miles (Sr., WR): The top deep threat for the Crimsons, averaging over 61 yards receiving per outing.[1]
Male Bulldogs:
- Tyson Kinsel (Sr., RB/OLB): Male’s primary ground weapon and defensive leader, averaging nearly 100 total yards per game.
- Janson Brumley (Jr., QB): A dual-threat option orchestrating the Bulldogs’ play-action heavy offensive system.

Paducah Tilghman, The Blue Tornado
- Avery Thompson (WR/QB): A 5-star caliber junior with a massive list of Power 4 offers (including Kentucky, Louisville, and Auburn).
- Xavier Isable (QB): The elite junior signal-caller who captains this high-scoring offensive engine.

- Alan Agee (T): A towering 6’6″ junior tackle providing incredible length and massive depth to the outside pass protection.
Christian County’s Fighting Tigers
- Jasiah McCarley (QB): An explosive quarterback capable of pushing the ball vertically downfield.
- Deasian Harris (RB): The primary ground threat for the Tigers, averaging an impressive 93.0 rushing yards per game.
- Paul Abren (RB/LB) & Jaylen Ray (WR/CB): High-impact senior leaders who carry the load on both sides of the ball.
- Tristin Dillard (RB): The kid has been very effective between the tackles getting tough yardage and scoring TDs for his club in this his senior season.
- Jayleigh Campbell (PK): She has shown she has what it takes to trot out there and win a tight contest for the Tiger team.
🏈 Game Handicap & Prediction
This game presents a classic structural mismatch on paper. Paducah Tilghman enters the game utterly dominant, averaging nearly 50 points per game while showcasing a stellar defense that locks opponents down. Christian County has the explosive athletic pieces to execute early deep-passing chunk plays, but keeping pace for four quarters against the Blue Tornado’s depth will be a monumental task.
Expect the unified Tigers to show a lot of heart at home in the Stadium of Champions, but Tilghman’s defensive front and overwhelming firepower should break the game open by the second half.
- Likely Winner: Paducah Tilghman’s Blue Tornado
