Louisivlle’s Ja’Hyde Brown (Christian Academy-Louisville) is coming off quite a game for his Centurions against a 6A opponent in Hardin County, Kentucky (Central Hardin). Brown logged 6 receptions for 158 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns (receptions of 31, 51, 65, and 14 yards). He also returned a punt for a touchdown, totaling 5 touchdowns on the night. That is the type performance which leads a young player to the Atlantic Coast Conference and an NIL check to play for the homesteading Louisville Cardinals. Brown is a “Mr. Football” candidate and his candidacy is hard to argue against, except for the possible exception the team would be about as lethal with or without him, but that isn’t his fault. The Centurion roster is loaded with playmakers at about every position. Enjoy this look at a kid for whom the sky is literally the limit.

Through four games, the Tigers stand at 2-2, coming off consecutive road wins, and playing much better football by any estimation. The defense was particularly stout this past Friday night in the district opener for both schools, Christian County at Daviess County in Owensboro. The Tigers embark on an important stretch, coming home to play one of 6A’s better teams in South Warren before traveling to Lexington, the 25th of September, to play Frederick Douglass on “The Farm.” Obviously, if the young Tigers could split those two games it would be a huge boost to the team’s psyche and prospects heading into the end of the regular season and the playoffs. The defensive unit of the Tigers really played exceptionally this week to earn our Lasater’s Player of the Week Honors. Enjoy the feature.

I was watching a college football game on television last night (September 12, 2026) and Georgia Tech had a monster at TE who couldn’t be stopped. Over and over again the Ramblin’ Wreck kept targeting this 6’9,” 270 pounder over the middle of the defense. It was impressive. I would have run it until someone showed me it could be stopped or even slowed a bit. The kid for Georgia Tech was named Kevin Roche, Jr. and he hailed from Connecticut. Murray High has such a TE and his name is Owen Howell. Howell is a 6’4,” 220-pounder with a 4.7-GPA and a 29 on his ACT. Not every 5’11,” 180 pound high school WR is the same. Some of them have a vertical of 37-inches, bench press 245, squat (lbs): 425, power cleans (lbs) 235, and are in the graduating class of 2028. Some of them are surnamed “Landis” and get to play high school football at one of Kentucky’s most prestigious programs for a coach bearing the same surname. This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. For an inaugural journey through Kentuck’s largest classification, the first win didn’t take too terribly long and came on the road playing a ranked Tennessee opponent. Oh well, we do study this topic sufficiently to know a few things about a few things. The win was glorious and somewhat unexpected as the Tigers were at least two TD underdogs by most services which handicap high school football games. Burgess played well with a Pick 6, a pass broken up, 81-kick-off return yards, and six overall tackles. Burgess was a three phase contributor and had a stamp all over his team’s efforts. Burgess also claims our third, in-season (2026), Lasater’s Player of the Week Award. Enjoy the feature.

We thought we would head on over to the Derby City and catch up with one of our favorite RBs on one of our favorite teams. Parker Rudolph (’26) is a RB prospect who has the speed, power, and explosion (twitch) to play free or strong safety at the next level too. He can return kicks, punts, work the slot catching the ball, and use his backend separation speed and spacial quicks to gain a ton of after contact yardage. At Big Ass Fans, we reach out and impact all parts of Kentucky, large or small, wherever we are needed. We are going to have to start calling them the “Heartbreak Wildcats” pretty soon if things don’t start trending differently. Trigg County has dropped consecutive, one-point defeats to the toughest of competition under very strange and almost lightening-striking-ish type situations. Still, the play the team is getting from its sophomore QB is extraordinary. Cade Scott is a superlatively good, three sport, varsity athlete who excels at FB (QB), basketball (SG), and baseball (OF/LHP). He is completing nearly 75% of his passing attempts and putting the offense in situations where it should and, often has, thrived. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.

Not all games are played on Friday Nights. Increasingly, games are being showcased on Saturdays and even Thursdays. Hoptown is entertaining a public school from Chicago, Illinois tonight. It is the Prosser Career Academy and the Falcons enter the game 1-0 on the young season. Hoptown (1-1) looks to be more than the Falcons can handle on paper at least and we like the Tigers by a sizable margin over the visiting team from Chi-Town.
