The second round of the KHSAA playoffs made me glad I have stopped publishing picks. With the upsets we saw in round two, I would have looked even dumber than I actually am. None of the round two exits were any more surprising than this one. Enjoy the feature.

This Friday night the Pilots will guide its ship into an unfriendly port. Morton’s Gap will host this ball game which will be pivotal regarding how the Storm enters the upcoming playoffs. There are some mighty good football teams standing at 0-2 around the commonwealth of Kentucky. Largely, it all depends on whom you have played. For instance, Central High (Lou.), Pikeville, and Lexington Christian Academy are all 0-2. We promise you, none of the three are “throwing in the towel.” The boys from Russell Springs, Kentucky are in the same class. They are 0-2 but have opened with two mighty tough teams and look to get off that “schneid” this evening, at home, when John Hine’s Cardinals come a’calling. Enjoy the feature.

Well, scrimmages are in full swing. This time last year, a 4A team I had predicted would struggle tied a 5A power in a scrimmage which made the 4A coach scream all over social media that I was a complete idiot. The 4A team went 1-9, the 5A team challenged for the title at its level of play. Obviously, that scrimmage was meaningless. Well, Friday night Johnson’s Apollo squad pasted Logan County, at 4A team usually in the hunt. What does it mean? Does it mean anything? We’ll discuss. Friday Night Fletch.
