What a moment for Jayleigh Campbell. She is a ’27 PK who came over from the soccer team to lend a hand (or a foot) to the boys varsity football team. Well, Friday night, during the team’s inaugural Homecoming at the consolidated school, Campbell did something extra special. The senior placekicker became the ultimate hero of the night by kicking the game-winning, 24-yard field goal in overtime. This win was the upset of the night in KHSAA 6A football, it was highly improbable, and it gave the Tigers a chance to get the home gate in round one of the upcoming playoffs. Way to go Campbell.

What a tremendous win over DuBois this past week and the margin was quite unexpected as the Lions were certainly a hot team across KY. This week we thought we would feature a ’28 kid in Paxton Gray who is a perfect example of a versatile skill set athletically employed in a variety of varsity sports. We are proud to have eCampus.com as one of our group of sponsors. These guys have set the industry standard for savings, selection, convenience, and customer service and have committed themselves to helping college students more easily afford to better themselves and develop. Now, eCampus.com is helping high school football players gain notice, attention, and opportunities to play at the next level when their KHSAA playing days are through. Join us each week as we inform you about a KHSAA, high school football players who are “Big Men on (our) eCampus” and should be a Big Men around your eCampus too. Sometimes we like to do things a bit differently. The Tigers are coming off an off week and come home to play a critical, first district matchup against the Henderson County Colonels. The district title is still out there for the taking to the “winner” of this Friday Night’s game. We will scout the matchup and attempt to predict a score and a winner. Big game, and the Tiger coaching staff couldn’t be anymore aware.

Sometimes individual performances give rise to promise and expectation for the future even where it came in an unsuccessful bid for a victory. This past weekend the Trigg County Wildcats were narrowly beaten by a Crittenden team who had to have felt fortunate to escape the encounter. The loss aside, and dropping to 1-5 on the year aside, the Wildcats still found elements about which to feel like there its considerable promise for the future under legendary coach, Curtis Higgins. Connor Bellows had another strong night and returned a pivotal kickoff 52-yards to give his team a chance when it needed a chance the most. These kids getting all these valuable live game reps will pay off before too much longer and Bellows coming up, big-time, in pivotal moments will too. It just goes to show, one has to be omnipresently prepared, ready. This week our jacket patch goes to the senior athlete who played his butt off in a pivotal moment, giving his team a shot at victory. He has been expected this year to be prepared, to be ready, and to perform and, thus far, he hasn’t disappointed. Enjoy this look at Connor Bellows who (for a second time) is our Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company All-State Player of the Week and another patch-recipient as we enter district play and the stretch run.

Lloyd Memorial is a team which has been overlooked as a potential 3A title contender. It is not our fault, we had them No. 3 on our preseason top-team’s poll coming into the season. Lincoln Tomlinson was the headliner coming into the year. Well, his classmate, Colten Barger (’28) looks as though he may have etched his name on the stud-wall in the locker room so far this year. The Juggernauts are 6-0 and have ripped through both a 5A team (Collins) and a 6A squad (Campbell County). With four regular season games left, this Juggernaut of a team may be headed to 10-0 and quite a few playoff games at home. Enjoy this look at a main reason why.

What a tremendous win in this year’s Holy War sending the Eagles Into its off week sitting at 3-2. Louisivlle’s Ja’Hyde Brown (Christian Academy-Louisville) is coming off quite a game for his Centurions against a 6A opponent in Hardin County, Kentucky (Central Hardin). Brown logged 6 receptions for 158 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns (receptions of 31, 51, 65, and 14 yards). He also returned a punt for a touchdown, totaling 5 touchdowns on the night. That is the type performance which leads a young player to the Atlantic Coast Conference and an NIL check to play for the homesteading Louisville Cardinals. Brown is a “Mr. Football” candidate and his candidacy is hard to argue against, except for the possible exception the team would be about as lethal with or without him, but that isn’t his fault. The Centurion roster is loaded with playmakers at about every position. Enjoy this look at a kid for whom the sky is literally the limit.
