If you don’t know they play a little football in Bardstown, KY you have never read my book, “Kentucky’s All-Time HS FB Coaches and a Few More I Liked” nor have you heard of Garnis Martin. The Point is…they have been fielding quality football teams around Bardstown since they had a school named My Old Kentucky Home High. Bardstown is staring to look very formidable again this season as they have gotten off to a 3-0 start. The Tigers are being led by a combo RB,QB named Elijah Young and the 5’10, 190-pound sophomore is posting some all-time marks particularly passing the ball. This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. What are the chances the Beechwood Tigers are going to bring back an all-time football coach and then lose his opening game back on the home sideline? As the British would say, “Not bloody likely!” Beechwood opened up last night in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky against a Cincinnati, Ohio team in Indian Hill (Braves) who were coming off a 13-1 season in ’25 with plenty of talent returning. Indian Hill was a slight favorite entering the game. We took Beechwood at home because of Rash, because of Wake commit Emmett Queen at QB, because of Tyler Fryman (WR/ATH, UK commit), and because of Nathan Pabst (uncommitted) at WR/ATH. Mostly, we took Beechwood because we believe in the quality of KHSAA football and its depth and its quality of play and quality of competition. You might say that is the product we pedal, both day in and day out. Enjoy the read.

There will be those who will tell you the newly consolidated “Tigers,” from Christian County High, will go as far next season as players like Tremayne Clay can lead them. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Kelton Forrester is a kid with a ton athletic ability and potential who was put in tough spots particularly for a freshman on a championship caliber roster at the 3A level. He will be called going forward as many seniors have exhausted eligibility and are headed to play football on Saturdays. Forrester is a track & field prospect in the commonwealth among ’29s and is already enjoying success as a varsity performer. Forrester is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him. Enjoy the feature.
