We are inching closer to the end of our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Jackson Wyatt is simply among the best multi-phase football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today at the 4A level and in the ’29 graduating class. Wyatt came to the Calloway County High roster under new leadership and Coby Lewis has gone about developing some of the commonwealth’s most talented players. Wyatt has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him and Wyatt is only going to improve over his sophomore season, particularly on offense where he should get many more opportunities. Wyatt is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Murray High had a tremendous signal caller in 2025 who has moved on to the Murray State Racers and will now play on Saturdays. Still, Melvin Cunningham has built an enviable program while at Murray High and his Tigers figure to be in the title chase again in 2026. Lots of big-bodies on that Tiger roster. Lots of athletes on that Tiger roster. There is even a transfer from Dresden, TN who comes to town well thought of, successful, and much ballyhooed for his prior on-field successes. HIs name should be familiar to you. It is Bruce Willis, the same as the Hollywood “leading man,” Bruce Willis. This guy is a load, plays QB, lists MLB as his defensive position (which should tell the reader something of his demeanor and disposition), and is equally dangerous breaking down defenses with his arm or his legs. We generally go back and republish some articles during the Dead Period. This is the last day of Dead Period and it is full throttle to the opener from here until opening weekend. We are excited about what has been a thrilling offseason. We have accomplished quite a lot this offseason not the least of which has been our publishing the most decorated and distributed book on the topic of Kentucky High School football in Kentucky history. We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. The ‘Scholfield Leg Rocket’ was simply among the best PK’ing football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game at his level of play and particularly on the western end of KY. Scholfield came on our radar with his play over the course of his career at McCracken County during Coach Marc Clark’s time at the helm of the Mustang’s ship. Since then, Scholfield has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Scholfield only improved over his high school career, and had a nice college career to boot. Scholfield was the kind of kid coaches wanted to coach and, in the end, that may have been the finest compliment which could have been paid him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

William Long was featured many times on this forum which was partly created to publicize and support his efforts in the game of football from his middle school days forward. He never asked to be covered and, truthfully, William would have much preferred we not written about him. It has been a somewhat constant source of discord between us, truthfully. The problem has always been that William just kept accomplishing incredible things worthy of the “ink.” On his last official day as a football player, William did it a final time. Enjoy this feature about an athlete who made it a common, everyday, experience to bedazzle and bewilder us with the many accomplishments attributed to him through his many years as a football player.
