Max Sturm is among the best DBs in the ’28 graduating class particularly in western Kentucky. Sturm registered 56-tackles, a pair of TFLs, a FF, and an INT in the 10-games of PT he got as a sophomore. Sturm figures to be a starter in 2026 from night one, snap one. Finding the field as a sophomore is a “good sign” for those hoping to move on to next level success. We would like to see Sturm on the offensive side some more this coming season. The 5’10,” 160-pounder sports a 250-pound bench press and squats 385. He has plenty of strength and explosion to be a steady hand on offense and a three-phase performer on a 6A roster, something not easy to do. This kid’s 4.0-GPA makes him an easy take for many of the colleges around the commonwealth fielding college football teams. Enjoy the feature.

Tanner Stutler is a dual threat QB from Paul Blazer High in Ashland, KY. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7-seconds, presses 225-pounds, squats 385, and shuttles (5-10-5) in 4.57-seconds. Stutler has a 30-inch vertical, and at 5’10,” 170-pounds, is among the better QBs in KY’s 2029 graduating class. Matter of fact, “Prep RedZone,” a nationally disseminated recruiting service, has Stutler ranked the 6th best QB in the KHSAA, among 29s, and 29’s 35th overall prospect regardless of position. Walker Bell is a ’29 guy who can play WR/QB/DB and who has a varied and dramatic athletic skill set. Bell played in six (6) games a year ago and performed admirably in a limited setting. Bell is very likely to round into an all-state performer either split out wide or in the Laker backfield on one or both sides of the scrimmage line. Players like Bell are part of the upgrade and development of talent undertaken by Coach Coby Lewis who is in his second year of an incredibly impressive rebuild. Walker Bell is a 5’9,” 155-pound, multi-phase, multi-sport performer who runs a 4.8-second 40-yard dash and is strong, powerful, explosive, and “twitchy.” Bell also plays soccer so he possess quick and nimble feet. Bell both was and still is a superlatively good athlete who excels at FB in addition to soccer. We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Aiden Baxter is simply among the better freshman defenders and football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game around the western part of Kentucky at his level of play. Baxter came on our radar with his play last season in his freshman year gaining Friday Night PT on a roster good enough to post a 14-1 and make the 2A title game. Since then, Baxter has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Baxter is only going to improve over his sophomore season, particularly with more opportunities and in multiple phases of the Tiger-attack. Baxter is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.
