We generally go back and republish some articles during the Dead Period. This is the last day of Dead Period and it is full throttle to the opener from here until opening weekend. We are excited about what has been a thrilling offseason. We have accomplished quite a lot this offseason not the least of which has been our publishing the most decorated and distributed book on the topic of Kentucky High School football in Kentucky history. We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. The ‘Scholfield Leg Rocket’ was simply among the best PK’ing football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game at his level of play and particularly on the western end of KY. Scholfield came on our radar with his play over the course of his career at McCracken County during Coach Marc Clark’s time at the helm of the Mustang’s ship. Since then, Scholfield has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Scholfield only improved over his high school career, and had a nice college career to boot. Scholfield was the kind of kid coaches wanted to coach and, in the end, that may have been the finest compliment which could have been paid him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Miles Hollon is a rare commodity among ’28 QBs. While many of them are selling “potential,” he’s selling production. How many QBs throw for close to 4,000 yards with around 50-thrown TDs entering their junior seasons? You can count them on less than a single hand. Hollon’s frame and growth potential are big pluses for him as he is today’s feature and a guy who has won almost every award one can bestow.

We are in the Dead Period and decided to look back on a kid we publicized and helped win “Mr. Football” back in the day. This article was written back in 2018, after he attended our Mountain All-State combine and had come off a freshman season where he made our Freshman All-State Football Team. We were on this cat early. He turned into everything we could have ever hoped he would be and won Mr. Football his senior year after leading Coach Haywood, and his Belfry team, to. Haywood’s eighth (8th) KHSAA title. Enjoy this look back at one of our all-time favorite players who starred at one of our favorite programs for one of our all-time favorite coaches. We are perilously close to beginning the ’26 season in earnest. The Dead Period is days away from terminating and the end of Dead Period up until the opener is mandatory preparation, mandatory practice. We will be scrambling around ranking teams, ranking players, and beginning campaigns for players to make post season, all-this, all-that. One guy you should definitely monitor is LCA’s top notch IOL, Matthew Montgomery. He is a slightly undersized (by college prospect standards) powerhouse who may well be KY’s very best interior OL in the game. Enjoy this look at this exceptional player.

There will be those who will tell you the newly consolidated “Tigers,” from Christian County High, will go as far next season as players like Tremayne Clay can lead them. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. Regardless, Clay will be critical. Good thing he is also extremely talented. William Long was featured many times on this forum which was partly created to publicize and support his efforts in the game of football from his middle school days forward. He never asked to be covered and, truthfully, William would have much preferred we not written about him. It has been a somewhat constant source of discord between us, truthfully. The problem has always been that William just kept accomplishing incredible things worthy of the “ink.” On his last official day as a football player, William did it a final time. Enjoy this feature about an athlete who made it a common, everyday, experience to bedazzle and bewilder us with the many accomplishments attributed to him through his many years as a football player.
