Griffin Benke from Highlands looking to help get the Bluebirds back where they belong… @Benke_Griffin, @HighlandsFB, @HSphire, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @eCampusdotcom

June 13, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

We scour the commonwealth of Kentucky looking for playing talent on whom to report. We don’t always find the 6’6,” 235-pound DEs and Long Snappers, but we found this one. Griffin Benke has to be among the more imposing players across Northern Kentucky playing the high school game today. He plays for one of Kentucky’s more storied programs. Benke runs the 40 in 4.82-seconds, shuttles in 4.7, has a 30-inch vertical, presses 310-pounds, reps the high school rep weight (185-pounds) 28-times, squats 400, and power cleans 245. This kid is being courted by a ton of D-1s from FCS through the Power 4s. First he has to get the Bluebirds back where that program belongs, in the championship winner’s circle. Enjoy the feature.

Jahshua Frost from Trinity High set for a huge year at corner @TrinityHSFB, @trinitysports, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

June 11, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

You know, one thing about corners, if they are making too many tackles there is something bad wrong going on in the defensive run box. At Trinity, a program with 30, KHSAA football titles, there aren’t too many RBs still on their feet once they reach the defensive third level. Frost’s tackle numbers weren’t stellar (two tackles) but he had two picks, locked down his side of the field, helped his team win its third straight, 6A title, and garnered 12-games of run as just a sophomore playing “Big Boy” football for the KHSAA’s premier program. So, there is that…Enjoy the article.

Caleb Collins from Calloway County is our Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company Feature of the Week @KYHighFootball, @MurrayLedger, @CClakerfootball, @teeroyhowell, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @eCampusdotcom

June 8, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Caleb Collins is a versatile football talent in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today who is among the best at his level of play and particularly on the western end of KY. Collins came on our radar with his play last season in Coach Coby Lewis’s inaugural season at the helm of the Lakers’s ship. Since then, Collins has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Collins is only going to improve over his senior season, particularly on offense where he should get many more opportunities. Collins is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Is JB Woolum a Mr. Football Candidate? We Think So! @JbWoolum2, @CoachWolford55, @BelfryFootball1, @cadenwoolum11, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @unwiredapp

June 6, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Last year, as a junior, JB Woolum helped lead Belfry to a 12-2 worksheet and a narrow, on the road, loss (5-points, 34-29) to the classification’s title winner (Lexington Christian Academy “LCA”). Woolum registered 82-rushes, 1,066-yards (13-yards a carry), 20-TDs, with 24-receptions, 520-yards, and 6-TDs receiving on offense while scoring 164-points (20-TDs rushing, 6-receiving, a KO return, and a two (2) pointer). On defense, Woolum registered 50-tackles, 1-TFL, and four (4) INTs for 70-IRNYs. On special teams, he returned punts and kicks, housing a KR. Another year like that and we have another “Mr. Football” plaque to place on the field house wall next to Isaac Dixon’s. Is JP Woolum a “Mr. Football” candidate? He is in our book!

Quinton Simon from Highlands High (Fort Thomas, KY) is the @bigassfans Kentucky Comfort Creator Feature of the Week @QuintonSimon29, @HighlandsFB, @HSphire, @Highlandspower1, @PrepRedzone, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball

June 5, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Quinton Simon is an under the radar guy who only got a couple nights run under the “Friday Night Lights.” Still, with limited opportunity, Simon has proven himself an exceptional talent among ’29 WR/LB/DB/KR/ATH across the commonwealth of Kentucky. One could even say Simon has been keeping it very cool there in the Fort Thomas, KY football scene. Simon was a star on the JV in both football and basketball and figures to mature into an every down, multi-phase threat for the Bluebirds in 2026. Simon sports a 3.77-GPA and at 5’10,” 175-pounds, he will be a tough matchup for plenty of opponents going forward. Coach Bob Sphire will be mighty happy, going forward into the ’26 season, to have an offensive/defensive/special teams (returner) weapon on the roster like Simon. Let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, and allow us to help you in that regard at Big Ass Fans!

Jackson Grantz, from Lafayette High (Lex.), one of the @khsaafootball’s true hidden gems @YetteFootball, @SportsLafayette, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @KyHighFootball

June 4, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Talk about your versatility. Jackson Grantz can do it all, literally. Grantz, in 2025, in 10-games of run, registered 90-tackles, 2-TFLs, 2-INTs, 84-IRNYs, and a pick-six. Grantz made 23-PATs and a pair of FGs. Grantz led the team in scoring with 59-points (4-TDs receiving, 1-INT return, 2-FGs, 23-PATs). Grantz caught 19-balls for 232-yards and four (4) scores. Wow! Remember, this cat is playing 6A, District 7 football. Not a ton of three-phase guys playing “Big Boy” football. Grants is 6’0,” 185 pounds who runs a 4.4 40-yard dash, clips off the 100-meter in 11.2-seconds, shuttles in 4.3-seconds, verts 31.9-inches, and bench presses 245-pounds. This guy maybe among the best football players in Kentucky about whom you haven’t heard much. Get ready, you will hear from him this year.
