We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. The ‘Scholfield Leg Rocket’ was simply among the best PK’ing football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game at his level of play and particularly on the western end of KY. Scholfield came on our radar with his play over the course of his career at McCracken County during Coach Marc Clark’s time at the helm of the Mustang’s ship. Since then, Scholfield has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Scholfield only improved over his high school career, and had a nice college career to boot. Scholfield was the kind of kid coaches wanted to coach and, in the end, that may have been the finest compliment which could have been paid him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

William Long was featured many times on this forum which was partly created to publicize and support his efforts in the game of football from his middle school days forward. He never asked to be covered and, truthfully, William would have much preferred we not written about him. It has been a somewhat constant source of discord between us, truthfully. The problem has always been that William just kept accomplishing incredible things worthy of the “ink.” On his last official day as a football player, William did it a final time. Enjoy this feature about an athlete who made it a common, everyday, experience to bedazzle and bewilder us with the many accomplishments attributed to him through his many years as a football player.

There are good players on literally every roster no matter. how much that particular roster struggles. We have shown you, the reader, countless examples of this. Coach Kelly Ford’s Vikings aren’t getting a ton of ink these days. One and nine seasons will to that to any program. Still, the Vikings return most of its production from a year ago and JT Judd is a multi-phase, multi-sport stud. Last year, Judd was the ball club’s leading INT guy, leading fumbles recovery specialist, leading rusher, receiver, and scorer. That is leading the ball club in several crucial statistical categories. Heading into ’26, this is a kid who could end up on some all-state teams, like our’s (Big Ass Fans, Large School) for instance. Play hard, young man; we will be watching.

Back the old days, coaches generally (particularly in high school) would take the best athlete and make him the QB. After all, let your best athlete handled the ball most of the time, right? Coach McPeek is familiar. He’s been around a while. Last year, the year before hiring McPeek, Eminence High had Deegan Ortega at QB. While there he threw for three TDs, ran for five scores, was the second leading scorer and contributed some tackles along the way. What is in store for ’26? You may see Ortega at QB some more but we believe his next level home will be at WR or DB. He is 6’2,” 180, carries a 3.3-GPA, and is one of the best athletes on any field he enters. Oh yeah, before we forget, he is this week’s Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator Feature of the Week too. Enjoy the feature.

Kenyon Cunningham is simply among the best multi-phase football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today at any level and a tremendous prospect in more than just football (basketball). Cunningham came to the Murray High roster when his dad got the job and has become among the commonwealth’s most talented players. Cunningham has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Cunningham is only going to improve over his sophomore season, particularly on offense where he should get many more opportunities. Cunningham is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.
