’28 WR/SS speedy slot guy has a penchant for finding the endzone
Drew Hardin has the West Jessamine Colts right where he wants them, sitting at 5-0. Hardin, a 5’11,” 165 pounder who plays slot receiver, primarily; but, also plays some safety on defense to ago along with contributions to both the coverage and return units on special teams. He’s a three phase guy and Scott Marsh couldn’t be happier with neither his junior star nor his team’s performance so far this season. Hardin is a versatile, multi-sport star with a bountiful skill set. In baseball, Hardin is part of the battery (catcher) and can play outfield which should give you some inkling as to both his agility and speed. The Colts are on the road tonight to play a tough George Rogers Clark team in Winchester. Should the Colts emerge from this game, 6-0, look out!

Hardin is a 5’11,” 165 pound speedy and explosive slot guy who can play safety on defense and contribute to the third phase on both the coverage and return units. On either a football field or baseball diamond, Hardin’s talent, mobility, speed, savvy, frame, and athleticism make him an attraction hard to overlook on any roster.

We believe Hardin may be well on his way to making an All-State football team before much longer in his playing career. We talk about him a lot around our offices and his performance is meriting the attention.

Nicholasville, KY: There are coveted and prized physical attributes among slot receivers and safeties just like there are prized attributes among catchers and outfielders in baseball. This is particularly true of the down the field targets who happen to be among the speediest, quickest, and best athletes on any offense.
At the slot receiver post, we like them moderately tall, around the 6-foot range, with long arms and spacial quicks reminiscent of a barrel-racing, quarter horse with a backside to match. Of course, we prefer them smart, agile, quick footed, powerful, able to sink and stop on a dime with hands that are money. Slot guys are not just leading the jet sweep and toss down the field anymore; now, they are integral parts of the downfield, passing game working the field in the zone between the second and third levels.
Slot guys are scorers. Slot guys like Hardin at least.
Lots of slot guys are doubling on defense at safety nowadays and contributing to the special teams on coverage and return units. Having versatile skill sets on the field, and dotting the play roster, is how teams get to 5-0 at the midpoint of a 5A season in the KHSAA.
Drew Hardin is a young guy (2028) who is quicker than a hiccup, can move his feet, can sink, spin, stop on a dime, and accelerate back to full throttle almost in an instant. Hardin is coordinated with length, agility, burst.
That is why Hardin has been in the lineup for the Colts since his freshman campaign. That is why On3.com consistently ranks him among the best at his position in the Bluegrass among ’28 prospects in the slot.
So far, Hardin has caught over 20-passes in his first five (5) games. Hardin has registered nearly 10 (ten) TDs. Hardin isn’t just shagging screens either. Hardin is averaging over 20-yards a reception for his 5-0 ball club.
West Jessamine is off to a great start. Tonight the Colts travel to Winchester to play a George Rogers Clark team that is a 6A club, sitting at 4-1, with its lone loss being last weekend to a Woodford County (5A) team seemingly always in Kentucky-wide contention.
