We scout the McCracken County Mustangs at Christian County Tigers game this coming Friday

The Tigers were right there this past Friday night banging on the front door of victory but fell a little short unfortunately. The ground game as lethal against the Colonels registering some 273-yards on the night. Way to go RBs! Way to go OL! Paul Abren continued his strong play with a 22-yard rushing TD in the first quarter. Jaylen Ray came up with a key interception in he end zone to stop a Henderson drive, and Tristin Dillard led the ground tame with 52-yards on only four (4) carries. Someone feed that dude the ball. Big upcoming game and the Tigers aren’t out of contention yet. If the Tigers can upset the Mustangs and the Mustangs beat the Colonels there would be a three way log-jam at the top of the district standings. Don’t you just love this type of year?

Hopkinsville, KY: As far as big games go, we just don’t know if they come any bigger than this Friday night in Hopkinsville. Both McCracken County (5-2) and Christian County (2-5) are still in the thick of the first district race (6A) and this coming game will completely clear the picture depending on whom wins. If McCracken wins, Christian County is for sure on the road for the first round and swinging out of the three (3) hole in the district race. If the Tigers can win…all you know what breaks loose potentially.

McCracken is 0-0 in district one and the Tigers are 0-1 with Henderson being 1-0. Should the Tigers win Friday night and the Mustangs rebound and beat Henderson County on October 23, 2026, all three district one teams would be knotted at 1-1 with each having beaten the other. What a mess…but a mess which, when you’re a Tiger fan, beats the alternative.

As I sit here today, I am unsure how the folks in Hopkinsville will view anything short of a district title for its consolidated football team. The Tigers have skilled talent across its roster. The community is accustomed to seeing good football out of the high schools which combined to comprise the “new school.”

One of the schools, Hopkinsville High, was 7-5 a year ago and exited the playoffs, in 2025, in the second round, on the road, after getting a first round, home game. The “new school” would also like a first round, home game but the path, with the Henderson game in the books a a loss, becomes considerably murkier.

We are going to do something we commonly do, and did just last week in this serial article. We are going to scout the McCracken at Christian County game and have Lasaters pick a winner and score and KPGFootball will pick a winner and score.

McCracken County is projected to win the high-stakes 6A District 1 matchup over the newly consolidated Christian County Tigers.

Historically, this has been an incredibly high-scoring affair. McCracken County dominated the previous two matchups, winning 63-20 in 2025 and 70-32 in 2024.

Team Records

  • McCracken County Mustangs: 5-2 (Wins over Logan County, Northeast, Union County, Murray, and Brighton, TN).
  • Christian County Tigers: 2-5 (Coming off a narrow 33-37 district loss to Henderson County).

Star Players to Watch

  • Christian County: Quarterback Jasiah McCarley leads the unified offense alongside senior standout back/linebacker Paul Abren, and dangerous wide receivers AJ Ware and Jaylen Ray.
  • McCracken County: An explosive offense guided by coach T. Brooks, anchored physically by high-caliber offensive lineman Max Watson and an aggressive frontline defense featuring Lukas Hoffman and Urijah Williams.

Game Handicap & Prediction

Christian County’s recent merger has given them high-end athletic talent, but they are still struggling with consistency, especially on defense. McCracken County’s offensive machinery has been operating at full steam all year, regularly clearing the 40-point mark. Christian County will keep it competitive early through McCarley’s deep-passing threat, but the Mustangs’ depth and efficiency will pull away in the second half.

  • Spread: McCracken County -17.5

The Heroes of the Henderson Game:

Paul Abren, Jaylen Ray, and Tristin Dillard stood out for the Christian County Tigers in their 37-33 loss to Henderson County on Friday, October 9, 2026.

  • Paul Abren: Scored an early 22-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.
  • Jaylen Ray: Came up with a key interception in the end zone to stop a Henderson County drive.
  • Tristin Dillard: Led the ground game as senior running back, rushing for 52 yards on four carries as part of Christian County’s 273-yard rushing performance.

• • Home-Field Factor: The game will take place at Christian County. While home-field advantage provides some protection against the spread, McCracken County’s more explosive offensive production and explosive play at the WR position gives them the clear analytic edge to cover a 20-point spread.

Lasaters Coffee predicts: We are taking the Tigers because WE BELIEVE in the Tigers coaching staff and its battle tested head football coach, Dustin Lopez. We believe in Christian County, Kentucky…that’s why we do business here. Give us the Tigers over the Mustangs 38-35 in an upset.

KPGFootball Predicts: McCracken County 48, Christian County 28

Join us next week as we honor another weekly prize winner. Until then, get on down to one of our Christian County Area locations and remember, our products are superior and one of kind; just like Abren, Ray, and Dillard.
