Haden Wise brings something to the table programs desperately need, particularly programs competing at the 2A classification. Haden Wise has a very versatile skill set with a variety of talents which lend itself well to playing multiple sports. Wise was among the offensive leaders for the Falcons football team this past Friday night as he played QB out of necessity for his team in its first win of the season. Wise, who also plays baseball (3rd base and catcher) employs skills which lend naturally (and specifically) to playing football. Wise’s multi-faceted, athletic tool belt makes him more, not less, recruitable to colleges around the commonwealth. Enjoy this feature.

We are doing something a little different this week. This week, we are scouting the opening opponent for the Christian County Tigers and forecasting a winner. This was shot around the table at our weekly editorial board meeting and wildly and excitingly discussed. The Longs like the Tigers in the matchup and the remaining table liked the Jaguars. It was 3-2. Can’t get much closer. Anyway, this is who we see it and this is the magazine’s official position. I once heard having an accomplished place kicker in the fold likened to finding a $20.00 bill in your dry cleaning. We have written about this player previously but her ability is so pronounced and her importance so vast, entering the ’26 season she is worth another feature. Back to our “finding $20 in one’s dry cleaning scenario;” one may not know one even needs $20.00; but, it comes in handy when one is both hungry and thirsty and one finds what one needs just sitting in one’s pocket. Jayleigh Campbell is not just an accomplished placekicker who converted just over 81% of her PATs (9 for 11) but she is a rising senior who should compete for the job at the newly consolidated high school. It must be something to realize your kicking game is so competently handled and looks to remain so for the foreseeable future. Congratulations to Jayleigh Campbell for being our ‘Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (or Tea)’ Player of the Week a second time from Lasaters Coffee & Tea where you are more than served, you are loved!

Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season.
