There will be those who will tell you the newly consolidated “Tigers,” from Christian County High, will go as far next season as players like Tremayne Clay can lead them. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. Regardless, Clay will be critical. Good thing he is also extremely talented. Jasiah McCarley emerged for Hoptown in its last competitive year and earned the job as QB-1. He led the Tigers to a seven win season and heading into the first season of the newly consolidated Christian County Tigers has to be considered the betting favorite to lead the new school from the same slot. I suppose we shall see. Jayon Bass has a frame to die for at 6’3,” 170-pounds. As an 11-pts. a game scorer averaging 6.4 rebounds a night, football isn’t the only game Bass can play. Bass can play anything because he is that guy, he is that type athlete. Bass was a star for his Tiger team a season ago who played sparingly on offense but was among the team’s very best defenders. Will he pull two-way duty when the rosters merge? I suppose we shall see. Jason Dernocoeur is a guy who has loads of promise and appears prepared to do lots of work to develop into the type player he wants to be. He is built like an interior offensive lineman, wears the number of a guard or center, but will probably have to pull “double duty” through much of his high school career. This young guys has shown he has what it takes to get it done.
