This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. I was on a podcast and remarked that one of the superlative athletes rostered on the Christian County Tigers team needed to stand up and be “Daddy.” Every team has a dog and perhaps we learned on the road at McKenzie that Jalen Ray is ours. The Tigers got a big win, its first program win, on the road against a ranked TN opponent and one has to wonder aloud what this does for the season prospects from this point forward? This week our jacket patch goes to s senior WR who came up “big time” when it mattered most, Jalen Ray. Ray will be expected to be prepared, be ready, and to perform at a very high level as this journey we call the 2026 football season continues. We are doing something a little different this week. This week, we are scouting the opening opponent for the Christian County Tigers and forecasting a winner. This was shot around the table at our weekly editorial board meeting and wildly and excitingly discussed. The Longs like the Tigers in the matchup and the remaining table liked the Jaguars. It was 3-2. Can’t get much closer. Anyway, this is who we see it and this is the magazine’s official position. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. We call these the Seven-Eleven. We have identified seven small school players and 11-large school studs all of whom will move the needle considerably this coming Fall. These are the guys who, if they are ’27s, will be in the “Mr. Football” race, and if they are younger will be serious threats for post season accolades. These teams are the teams who will make deep playoff runs, if not win championships, next season too. Nehemiah Bailey got more PT than any other freshman on the last Hoptown roster. The two Christian County schools will combine in the Fall of ’26 and form one ball club. That team will have loads of talent. That team should be right formidable as a 6A, first district team. Who will quarterback this team? Last year’s starter at Hoptown is returning and Jasiah McCarley threw for a little over 2,000 yards and 20-TDs a year ago. McCarley will be a junior in ’26 and has an advantage in production and playing time. However, Bailey is 6’3,” 195-pounds and he sure passes the “eye test.” Today we feature Bailey and discuss his prospects unseating the incumbent QB-1.
