’28 multi-phase athlete comes up big at a big time!
Parker Landis is hardly a normal 5’11,” 180-pound high school football player. Landis has a 37″ vertical, bench presses 245, cleans 235, squats 425, and is a “Landis” after all!. Landis, a ’28 prospect, is one other thing…he’s the guy who was on the receiving end of what was (at the time) a critical touchdown throw from QB, William Shoptaw. The Shoptaw to Landis aerial staked the Tigers to an insurmountable 21-0 lead over the homesteading Male Bulldogs and sent a message around the Bluegrass that the doomsday, naysayers concerning the Tigers ’26 season fortunes may need to reassess. These Tigers are going to be just fine. Before it is said and done this year in Kentucky’s 6A, these Tigers will be heard from and will be a team with whom contenders will have to deal. This week our feature is about Parker Landis from Louisville’s St. Xavier High School. Landis is a 5′ 11,” 180 pound, multi-phase athlete who posses many threats to opponents on a football field with his talent, mobility, speed, and savvy.

Landis is willing to do whatever his coaching staff and teammates need. He gives his talent freely for the betterment and enrichment of the team and not necessarily for himself which is a refreshing attribute to see in a young football star.
We believe Landis may be well on his way to making our All-State football team at the end of the 2026 season. We talk about him a lot around our offices and his performance is meriting the attention.
This is exactly how great high school programs, like St. Xavier High, are built and maintained. The great programs are constructed from the ground up, just like great businesses, just like Big Ass Fans.

Louisville, KY: There is a famous story about Mark Twain awakening one morning and reading the obituary in a newspaper while taking his morning coffee. As the story goes, Twain reads that he has died.
There was an innocent explanation for how this happened. Twain had a sibling or relative who was accustomed to regularly communicating with Twain who had not heard from the world renown author in quite some time. This person assumed Mark Twain had passed and contacted the newspaper. It was widely reported (of course).
Twain contacted the editor of the paper where he saw the notice of his death. Twain wrote the now famous line, it would appear the rumors of my demise have been widely exaggerated.
As we continue to cover our life-long labor of love, covering the KHSAA football game, we hear lots of people wanting to count out St. Xavier High School. St. X had pretty soundly lost its opener to an Owensboro (Senior) team (5A defending champions) which went on the road, the next week, and had dropped on them a 52-0 seismic bomb by a Christian Academy-Louisville team (3A, four-time defending champions).
Fans made too much of St. Xavier losing that opener in Owensboro. Fans made too much of Senior High losing on the road to CAL, 52-0. CAL is just that good. Both St. X and Senior High are also pretty dad-burn good!
We have cautioned, don’t let a single set-back dampen your enthusiasm for the Tigers’ seasonal prospects. They are (after all) still St. X!
Almost as if on cue, St. X ripped off a 37-7 bombing of its own and on the road. The Tigers invaded an undefeated home field of the Male Bulldogs and showed one of the top public school programs in the nation, what’s what.
Key to that win was Paker Landis. Landis caught an aerial from Shoptaw which staked the Tigers to a 21-0 lead in a ball game which seemed to put the score out of reach.
Landis is far from your normal 5’11,” 180-pound player. The ’28 prospect has a 37″ vertical, bench presses 245, power cleans 235, and back squats 425. Landis plays in the slot or out wide and can play FS on defense as well as return punts and kicks.
This is a kid who colleges should take a close look at recruiting. If his vertical is hitting 37-inches, chances are his 40-sprint time is approaching 4.5-seconds.
