Mychael Pulley comes from a fine bloodline and is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (or Tea) Feature of the Week @County_TigerFB, @LasatersCoffee, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

’29 ATH looks to grow into his familial role as a Tiger ‘multi-sport’ star

If the surname “Pulley” sounds familiar, it should. There have been a long, distinguished line of Pulleys who have been stars on the athletic fields of Hopkinsville, Kentucky for generations, not the least of which was the great Curtis Pulley who won “Mr. Football” and was runner-up for “Mr. Basketball” when he was a Tiger. You find that in small towns like Hopkinsville; year after year, decade after decade, kids with similar pedigrees and surnames re-surface, time and again, to lead area sports teams. Mychael Pulley is no different. Pulley is accomplished in football, basketball, and track & field where he runs sprints and participates in “field events,” like the high jump and the triple jump. One has to be a superior athlete to be a triple jumper. Pulley is an outstanding young man and citizen who is a credit to his surname and to his community.

Hopkinsville (Christian County), KY: We would be the first to acknowledge the last season ever for the Hopkinsville High School football program went fairly well. The Tigers won seven (7) games, made the second round of the playoffs, and showed out against some pretty stiff competition a year ago playing in the largest classification of competition in the KHSAA.

Mychael Pulley

Hopkinsville will be combining forces with the cross-town Christian County Colonels. Both teams have some young talent on hand which should come in handy going forward.

Mychael Pulley is a young kid coming off his freshman season who has plenty of skill sets which recommend itself to football stardom. Pulley only got run in a couple of varsity games a year ago but as his frame fills out and as he grows into some “man muscles” his promise and ceiling appears incredibly high.

Mychael’s dad, Curtis Pulley, has his number (15) retired as a football player for the Hoptown Tigers and won the coveted “Mr. Football” award his senior year in high school. Pulley was the only high school player in KHSAA history to nearly win both Messrs. Football and Basketball as Curtis Pulley was a runners-up in the basketball designation the same year he had won the football distinction.

Will Mychael Pulley be as good as the old man? It is hard to say, but the young rising sophomore is plenty skilled and athletic. The young bull is developing physically and growing into a promising frame.

Pulley is a basketball and track & field star in addition to his football skills. In track, Pulley runs the 100-meters. In the field events, Pulley is a high jumper and triple jumper.

Pulley’s being a triple jumper of some renown is particularly promising for his future football career. Why? We thought you would never ask.

The triple jump requires a specialized athletic skill set combining explosive power, elite sprinting speed, and high-level kinesthetic awareness to manage significant impact forces. Athletes who triple jump exhibit key skills to include accelerating into a controlled, rapid approach; executing a high-intensity hop-step-jump sequence; maintaining an upright posture; and utilizing reactive, eccentric strength to maintain momentum.

The Hoptown Tigers were a pretty good ball club in ’25 and the conglomerated school promises to be even better in ’26

Friday Night Fletch

Track & field (spring sport) has a long history as a beneficial, offseason endeavor for football players looking to gain a competitive advantage on the gridiron. We cover track & field, offseason, as part of our year-round football coverage.

Pulley, like the Pulleys who came along before him, is avid in the weight room and willing to train to both harness and develop his physical prowess. This kid needs to get bigger and thicker. He has the pedigree and bloodlines to do just that.

Like so many other area, young players who hail from fine stock and famous fathers, Pulley is a better young man, off the field, than the player he is when on it. That is quite a mouthful now, as he is plenty skilled, plenty athletic. It will become even more of a statement as he fills out and matures.

One reason we settled on him for this offseason feature is his being the type of citizen and student a community can both support and commend. Pulley’s just a great kid.

Identifying a potential weapon like Mychael Pulley, may give the new Christian County Tigers an advantage over some other newly minted teams in the 6A classification throughout the KHSAA. That is why Mychael Pulley from Christian County High, is this week’s Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Feature of the Week.

We feel it is high time for people around Christian County, KY to take notice of this outstanding young Tiger, Mychael Pulley, and some of the Tigers’ other outstanding performers. Hey Christian County Tigers, as far as Mychael Pulley is concerned; it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee!
