Every year, rosters are charged with replacing outgoing talent with upgrades (if they are lucky). Eighth graders leave middle school, and enter ninth grade, more and more prepared to contribute on Friday nights than at any previous time. Dariyon Walker looks to crack the Storm’s lineup early in his high school career. Will he? We like his chances!

We have focused on versatility all season long and even in the offseason leading up to the year. Isaac Manning is among the more versatile talents around western Kentucky and provides superlative value for college football programs recruiting him. Some predictions age better than others. We wrote an article about this prospect in May of 2024. In that article we predicted this kid, who had an athletic frame and bounce, would have a “break out season.” He did just that. We don’t even know what to say about the Storm after its impressive “beat down” of Webster County, 29-0. Manning made some changes to the deployment of personnel both on offense and defense to put kids in better positions to succeed and succeed they did. Tonight, the Storm will travel to Dixon, KY to take on an always tough, McLean County team. How do the Storm finish the final four of the regular season? Seems like we have been here before.

Scouting Report: Russellville Next Scrimmage Up Before Season Starts; Transfer Rumors[?]

We are steamrolling into the season opener on August 23rd. There is still the matter of a scrimmage against the Russellville Panthers. The Panthers were an extremely young, inexperienced team a year ago. These guys are always athletic and the added experience should indicate a different Panther squad than the one we saw limp to a 2-9 finish in 2023. Enjoy this “scouting report.” Friday Night Fletch.

Coming into the season we have a variety of news to report. First, Cajun Hayes is looking like we predicted back on May 24, 2024. He is pushing for starter’s reps and has looked fantastic, particularly after the hitting started. Central has lost some coaches. Sylas Gunn has been among the more impressive athletes to compete in Western Kentucky sports in several years. The QB, SS, FS prospect can play baseball, basketball, football, and run track.
