Walker Bell, from Calloway County, is the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Co.’s Feature of the Week @TupperBray43875, @KYHighFootball, @MurrayLedger, @CClakerfootball, @teeroyhowell, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @eCampusdotcom

Bank of Cadiz

’29 QB/WR/DB has a varied skill set and plays a variety of varsity sports

Walker Bell, a ’29 prospect who also plays soccer, got run in six (6) of the team games in 2025. What makes that particularly noteworthy is not his three (3) completions, not his 60% completion rate, not his 148 rushing yards, not his pair of rushing touchdowns nor even his lone, solitary tackle. What makes it noteworthy is his being a freshman and a multiport, varsity athlete (also on the soccer team). We like performers with varied skill sets. This cat has some varied skill sets. Look for this kid to explode onto the play rotation this coming Fall for the Lakers from Calloway County. Remember from where you first heard this!

The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, based in Cadiz, Kentucky, was founded August 7, 1970. The bank obtained trust powers in 1978.

Murray, KY

It is a locally owned, independent bank which has expanded, through the years, to locations in Hopkinsville and Murray in addition to Cadiz. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company has focused on community finance and dealing face-to-face with both families and small-business owners while fulfilling customer needs and the dreams of area families and businesses regardless of size or construct.

We, like our area schools, strive for high performance and finding ways to prosper in an ever-changing economic environment. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company remains committed to superior performance goals coupled with an exceptional quality of customer service.

’29 QB/WR/DB, Walker Bell was among the local, young, high school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality this past season. What will this multi-faceted, star multi-phase performer pull off this coming season?

Well, that is the reason Bell is our featured player of the week. If history should repeat itself, whatever it turns out to be will be special.

Murray, KY: Coby Lewis continues to do a fine job at the helm of the Calloway County Lakers. His men are getting it done in the weight room this offseason and coming off a fine year (6-5) with the type talent on the roster to make the faithful wonder just how far Lewis can take this team this coming year in light of the roster defections occasioned by the Spring baccalaureate exercises.

Lewis has these fans asking an all-important question; why not us? Is it finally our turn to make a little noise in the 4A classification?

Walker Bell embodies the infusion of talent the roster has seen developed under Lewis’s watchful eye and persistent efforts. Bell is a 5′,9″ 155-pounder who can play several of the DB slots, can play at QB, and can play WR too. Bell has been a steady performer on the special teams units in both coverage and returns and that deployment seems likely to resume when ’26 gets here.

Bell brought plenty to the table in 2025. Bell completed 3 of 5 passes for 37-yards and a TD; gained 148-yards on 15-carries with 2-TDs rushing. Bell also scored a pair of TDs rushing, a pair of TDs passing, and registered a tackle all in just six (6) games.

Bell is a multi-phase, type talent with the size, frame, and skill set to make contributions all over the field for his team. Bell has good speed, having before clocked a 4.8-second, forty-yard dash, which is kind of cooking for a freshman/rising sophomore.

The most important statistic for any player attempting t help his program is wins-losses. This young player contributed to a roster which won six (6) games and made it to the playoffs in year one.

Bell is “reportedly” a very solid student. That is a quintessential characteristic for a QB/WR/DB of whom we expect sound decision making with the football, route running skills, coverage skills, footwork, and the ability and willingness to get down hill in the run-game and make critical stops from the first to third levels in space. QBs/WRs/ and DBs have to make intelligent decisions. Good students are often better prepared to do just that.

Bell has a high IQ. Football, classroom, or otherwise…

The Lakers have a big season upcoming in 2026. They would like show the rest of the commonwealth they weren’t a fluke in ’25 and that they are here to stay among the upper echelon of the 4A classification. They will have to do it post the graduation of several all-state performers. There are a few all-state caliber guys coming back for more.

While some really fine talent has graduated, the remainder of the crew will have to carry on in their absence and are working hard to do just that. There is still plenty of talent around Murray, KY to make the Lakers quite formidable in ’26 and Bell would number among them.

Bell is too good to sit and is a favorite to make the play rotation, and in multiple phases, entering ’26

Friday Night Fletch

We believe Bell has a future as a two-way, multi-phase performer. With his frame and athleticism, his playing several different slots in college is far from out of the question. Matter of fact, if it were we, we would be tempted to play him at QB/DB and WR this coming Fall.

Bell has plenty of explosion and power, and has good speed and quicks. Bell is putting in the offseason work and effort to hone his craft.

The Lakers have served notice in ’25 that it was a 4A contender with which to reckon. Calloway will have a target on its back going forward.

There is a big difference in being the hunted as opposed to being the hunter. Calloway County is a far cry from easy prey, far from being overlooked on anyone’s schedule.

Can Coach Lewis continue the development and run of success his Lakers and he have enjoyed? If it is to do that, it will require sustained brilliant flashes similar to what we saw a season ago from young guys stepping up, like Walker Bell.

We know this, the Lakers will be excellently coached and excellently prepared. We like this program’s track record. We love this program’s trajectory.

This offseason will go along way in answering questions. Regardless, seeing the answers revealed should prove entirely interesting.

Let’s just hope Walker Bell continues to demonstrate the marked improvement he has shown thus far. That would really get this program off on the right foot in 2026!
