’27’s Paul Abren has had a tremendous season

The Tigers have been a mystery this season. Some weeks the team looks like a contender and other weeks not so much. The Tigers looked, in the game with McCracken, like a real threat to stay around a few rounds when the playoffs arrive. We warned the Somerset game was a trap and the trap sprung and got us. Paducah Tighman was ranked No. 4 in the Media poll and Jason Frakes (“Courier-Journal”) had them at No. 10, all-classes. Tilghman is an elite 4A ball club with 6A talent, roster, facilities, and coaching. Tilghman was practiced at playing 6A clubs. The Tigers finished second in the 6A, District One standings and earned a home playoff game. The Tigers will play Daviess County in a game which should see our Tigers advance. Here is our scout of that game and a look at senior, Paul Abren, and the year he has enjoyed.

Prospects at the WKC Combine

Hopkinsville, KY: There are those who would tell you what one does against the best competition is more indicative of a player’s ability than wracking up yards and scores against the Little Sisters of the Poor. Count us among that number.

Abren’s Hudl

Hopkinsville will not face a team more talented nor better than Paducah’s “Blue Tornado” unless they advance far in the playoffs and draw a date with Louisville’s Trinity High or Lexington’s Frederick Douglass (whom they played during the regular season) or get slotted in 3A (somehow) and draw Louisville’s Christian Academy. The Blue Tornado is just that good and should challenge for a title in 4A this year.

Paul Abren, from the famous and ball-playing Abren family, had quite a game Friday night against Paducah. Matter or fact, Abren has had quite the year.

The newly unified Christian County Tigers high school football program (merging the longtime rivals Hopkinsville Tigers and Christian County Colonels) featured senior star Paul Abren as their dominant offensive workhorse. Abren was a workhorse on defense and special teams too. A three phase star at 6A is significant.

Star Player Stats & Graduation Year

  • Player: Paul Abren (#9, OLB/RB)
  • Graduation Year: 2027 (He is a member of the senior class of 2026–27).
  • Key 2026 Performances: Abren established himself as a premier ground threat in Kentucky high school football. In the team’s initial regular-season meeting with Daviess County, he needed just 4 carries to rack up 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. He closed out the regular season on October 30, 2026, with an explosive 116 yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 carries against undefeated Paducah Tilghman. Look for Abren to have a huge game in round one against Daviess County offensively, defensively, and on special teams in the coverage/return game.

First Round Playoff Handicap: Daviess County @ Christian County

The Class 6-A playoffs kick off at the Stadium of Champions. Here is a look at how this first-round matchup stacks up:

📊 Team Comparison & Trends

  • Christian County Tigers (3-7): Do not let the record fool you; the Tigers played one of the more grueling schedules in the commonwealth (including losses to 10-0 Paducah Tilghman and powers like 8-2 Cooper). Their ground game is operating at peak efficiency behind Abren.
  • Daviess County Panthers (1-9): The Panthers have struggled significantly on both sides of the ball all season, closing out their regular season on October 30 with a definitive 54-14 loss to Apollo. They are currently averaging very few points per game while surrendering an average of nearly 45 points per contest.

🏈 Game Analysis & Handicap

This game is a rematch of their September 11 showdown, where Christian County absolutely dominated Daviess County on the road, winning 48-5. Christian County holds every imaginable advantage here.

Up front, the Tigers’ offensive line will completely overwhelm a Panthers defense that has spent the season getting pushed all over the field. With junior quarterback Jasiah McCarley keeping the defense honest and Paul Abren running downhill, the Tigers should dictate the tempo from the opening whistle. Defensively, Christian County already proved they can entirely shut down Daviess County’s offense, holding them to a single field goal and a safety in their first meeting.

Hosting this game at home, expect the Tigers to repeat their regular-season dominance, jump out to a massive early lead, and trigger a running clock in the second half.

  • Spread Prediction: Christian County -35.5
  • KPGFootball’s Predicted Final Score: Christian County 45, Daviess County 7
