Broussard had a big game for the Wildcats as Trigg enters playoffs 4-6
Curtis Higgins has done a fine job with a ball club which has steadily improved as the year has gone along and which appears better than last year’s edition. This overall improvement is in spite of the Wildcats graduating some pretty good talent from off the ’25 roster. Zamarrion Broussard had a big game for Trigg County in their 41-12 win over Fulton County on Friday night (October 30, 2026). Broussard scored three touchdowns in the game, including a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Caden Scott, and a 12-yard touchdown run. Broussard is a ’28 kid so he is a piece around which Higgins can continue to construct his program. Cade Scott also had a strong outing and he (too) will return next season. The Wildcats have to travel to Owensboro and play the Catholic “Aces” in round one. That won’t be easy. However, that aside, anytime two teams take the field either of them can win. No one knows this much better than Curtis Higgins.

Cadiz, KY: The Wildcats have steadily improved this year and beat a Fulton County team, Friday night, enjoying one of its better all-time seasons. You’ll never see a Curtis Higgins coached team give in to a single opponent; however good that opponent may turn out to be.

Trigg County is entering the playoffs with considerable momentum. The Wildcats are coming off a 37-point victory over Todd County Central and a 41-12 effort against the Fulton County Pilots this past Friday night.
Zamarrion Broussard had a big game for Trigg County in its big win. Broussard scored three (3) touchdowns in the game, including a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Caden Scott and a 12-yard touchdown run.
Caden Scott had another strong outing on the year leading the offense. Scott threw the touchdown pass to Broussard and helped Trigg County build a lopsided lead with fine play using both his arms and legs.
As for the Fulton County Pilots, that ball club appeared flat on both sides of the ball and failed to reach the .500 mark heading into the Class 1A, Region-One playoffs. This is a condition from which Fulton County would do well to speedily recover.
Fulton County looked flat against the Wildcats; better fix that before the Crusaders get to town!

The Pilots host Louisville’s Holy Cross in a 7 p.m. game this coming first round. The Crusaders are 7-3 on the year and boast the 4th highest RPI in the classification.
No chance for a forfeit from the boys from Louisville. They will fire up the old bus and come off on the other side in time to commence its own playoff journey.
Trigg County has a tough opponent upcoming. We will handicap that game and give you a projected winner and score.

Handicap & Prediction
The Aces (9-1) enter the playoffs as the No. 2 ranked team in Kentucky’s Class 2A, boasting a regular season where they averaged an explosive 51.3 points per game. Conversely, the Trigg County Wildcats (4-6) have struggled, notably going 0-4 on the road.
- The Handicap: Realistically, Owensboro Catholic is favored by roughly 35 to 38 points. Expect a running clock to trigger early in the second half, much like their regular-season finale against Elizabethtown.
- KPGFootball’s Predicted Score: Owensboro Catholic 52, Trigg County 14
Owensboro Catholic Aces Star Players
The Aces are led by an elite offense and a massive front line:

- Dre’Mail Carothers (QB, Sr.): The focal point of the team. Standing 6’4″, he is a Louisville commit and a frontrunner for Kentucky’s Mr. Football award. He threw for over 4,000 yards last year and is slicing up secondaries with multiple 200+ yard halves this season.
- John Paul Carrico (OL, Jr., No. 50): A massive 6’8″, 300-pound offensive tackle who forms the anchor of what head coach Jason Morris calls one of his best offensive lines ever. He is highly sought after as a 2028 recruit.
- Shaiden Mitchell (RB/MLB, Sr.): A bruising 205-pound two-way player who leads the team in rushing touchdowns and is a constant threat out of the backfield.
- Braylon Coots (WR, Jr.): A towering 6’4″ wide receiver who serves as Carothers’ favorite deep-threat weapon, recently coming off multi-touchdown performances.
- Ridge Roberts (RB/OLB, Jr.): A dynamic, explosive threat who has multiple multi-touchdown performances on the ground this year.
We can’t make it any simpler than that. We’ll see you at the game!
