Brody Calhoun from Trigg County maybe one of the best linebackers, at his level of play, of whom you haven’t heard @BrodyCalhoun22, @CoachEzell45, @TriggFootball, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

Brody Calhoun is an example of a star HS player who is very likely to play in college but at what competitive level we aren’t in a position to accurately forecast. You see, there is a possibility Calhoun isn’t done growing so to know at what college level he may play we would have to speculate how his frame finishes. We just aren’t in a position to know. Calhoun’s on field production is “off the charts” as the rising junior has made close to 160-career tackles and hasn’t taken his first 11th-grade class yet. We are approaching “Dead Period” so get ready. Not much lies on the other side of “Dead Period” apart from two preseason scrimmages and opening night. We’re ready. We hope you are. Enjoy the feature.

Slow Motion Replay: Dixie Jones may have been among the best defensive coordinators the KHSAA has seen and was dad-burn competent in the head job too @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @KyHighFootball, @TriggFootball, @TriggCoAD

We were compiling a list once of the men we thought were the finest five defensive coordinators the KHSAA has ever known. On our list was Jeff Hester, Chuck Smith’s DC at Boyle County; John Paul Chapman, Mike Holcomn’s DC at Breathitt; Mark Spader, Kevin Wallace’s DC at BGHS and now its head coach; Jim “Red Dog” Daughtery, the DC for several years for Dale Mueller at Highlands, and (of course) Dixie Jones, who was the DC for some of Craig Clayton’s more formidable teams in his first run at Hopkinsville High. If we were compiling a list of powerlifting coaches, we might list Dixie five times, as he is the best the sport has ever known. Enjoy this look at an all-time “lifer” in this sport we all cherish and love.

Slow Motion Replay: Jon Collins, the “Johnny Appleseed” of the KHSAA @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @FDouglassFB, @TC_CommodoresFB

We call Coach Jon Collins “Jonny Football” around our offices. Partly it is because we can’t come up with a more perfect description than that and we are aware Johnny Manziel was similarly christened. Jon Collins has come to symbolize all which is fantastic about the KHSAA and its member institutions and coaches, be they head coaches or assistants. Once might say that he is an institution. We would say that. Enjoy a rare Sunday article we published just because…

Timmy Williams from Trigg County High ready to rebound from injury @TriggFootball, @CoachEzell45, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @KyHighFootball

February 18, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Timmy Williams, a ’28 athlete and quarterback, came out of the middle school ranks among the more ballyhooed prospects the western Kentucky MS ranks could muster. Williams was off to a fast start when he got derailed by injury in the second week. If this guy can stay healthy, he could have a really solid sophomore campaign. So could the Trigg County Wildcats who have stepped down to 2A and will now face Mighty Mayfield on a yearly basis.

Cinderella arrives at the Ball, Fort Campbell upends Madisonville-North Hopkins

September 16, 2024 Fletcher Long 0

It was the singular, most incredible upset in Kentucky HS football since I began covering the topic in April of 2015. If I could have bet my house on North Hopkins winning this game, I would be homeless today. Lots of Cinderellas find themselves at the Ball but very few of them have the wherewithal to actually bag the Prince. Most of the time, the Cinderellas get to the Ball and end up going home with a busboy from the catering company-still not a bad night but not the prize for which you came to the Ball. We will explain that analogy to you in the article. Enjoy the feature. Friday Night Fletch.

Preseason Top Five in 3A plus a few more @BelfryFootball1, @TriggFootball, @centurions_fb, @CHSJacketFB, @echsfb, @LexCath @AlPopFootball @840WHAS @sfitz_840whas

Well, it is time for us to pick the 3A classification and how it will “shake out” this coming Fall. We could take the coward’s way out and pick last year’s champion, Christian Academy-Louisville, to repeat. Instead, we took the coward’s way out and picked eight-time title holder, Belfry. Enjoy. Friday Night Fletch.

Middle School Spotlight: Caden Scott, (QB, ’28), from Trigg Middle, is Ca$h Money! @HopkinsCentral @evans02_mike @_CoachManning @KyHighFootball @MaxPreps @sfitz_840whas @minguabeefjerky @CoachEzell45

We call him “Ca$H Money” around our offices. Caden Scott, a ’28 prospect at QB for Trigg County Middle, is an exceptional athlete who can make all the throws and move around the pocket sufficiently to work himself free from the pass rush. This is a kid who would challenge for first-team reps at a lot of high schools if 8th-graders were permitted to play up on varsity by KHSAA rule. Enjoy the feature. FL.

This week’s Protein-packed Performer is Kahmani Bush from Trigg County. @LippertScouting @Coach_CotterLWC @1776Bank @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @kyhighs @HLpreps @MaxPreps @BryanAult @PrepRedzone @HopkinsCentral @evans02_Mike @TriggFootball @CoachEzell45

Kahmani Bush and his Wildcats from Trigg County open play on Saturday night in Cadiz, Kentucky against the always-tough Murray High Tigers. It will take ‘all hands on deck’ for the Wildcats to emerge from this encounter unscathed. Good thing they have Bush. Enjoy this feature and join us again next week when we recognize another outstanding athlete. Till then, pop some of Kentucky’s finest jerky products in your mouth and savor the flavor! #SavorTheFlavor!

Hey @pths_football! It is time to get @briiann23 heavily involved on both sides of the football.

Building up toward the Fall of 2020, which Commissioner Taggart assures us will come off, though when it will start is still hanging in the air somewhat, we continue to feature players we think will step forward for their respective teams. Today, we look at a DB who may need to carry some offensive load for Paducah’s Blue Tornado to experience the type success it realized in 2019. Enjoy the article. HB.
