’28 WR/CB effective down the field, in space, or running the jet
The Trigg County Wildcats are about to kick off its ’26 season with a game against Caverna in the Wildcat Chevrolet Bowl on Perdue Field in Cadiz. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CST. When the Wildcats open they will be looking for offensive threats to pair with quarterback Caden Scott (’28). One candidate will be Zamarrion Broussard who exhibited against Northwest High (Clarksville) in a jamboree at Fort Campbell that he has an explosive skill set which is capable of advantaging Curtis Higgins’ ball club as we matriculate through the 2026 regular season. ’28 Athlete, Zamarrion Broussard was among the young, high school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality in 2025 and will be looked to in 2026 to provide a similar spark. Broussard was a contributor on a 2A, first district roster which would see him wrack up production both defensively and offensively over the course of his sophomore season on the ground and testing opposing defenses over the top and out in space.
Well, that is the reason Broussard is our featured player of the week. If history should repeat itself, and should his performance improve as a junior as much as many would anticipate, whatever Broussard ends up contributing should constitute a mighty special level of game play.

Cadiz, KY: The Trigg County Wildcats have produced quite a bit of football playing talent through the years. Al Baker, Robert “Big Cat” Stinson, Marty Jaggers, even Davaree Gude have all left their mark on this singular, small town football program which has struck for multiple titles over the course of program history.
The Wildcats have brought back a hall of fame coach in Curtis Higgins to lead the team’s fortunes into the new season. The excitement level heading into the season is off the charts.
It is a good job. Ask the Jaggers family.
We believe Zamarrion Broussard’s name will be added to the short list of past greats before his career in Cadiz is done. If his efforts from the Northwest High (Clarksville) scrimmage are an indication, Broussard will be a persistent downfield and in-space target through which the offense will be triggered throughout the ’26 season.
Broussard lists around 5’11,” and weighs in the 160-170-pound range. He plays WR/Corner for the Wildcats and appears perfectly suited, physically, for these slots. Broussard is capable of returning or covering kicks and plays shooting guard in basketball.
The other night against the Vikings, Broussard netted 70 or so rushing yards on just four (4) carries. Broussard was the spark the team needed to stake itself to a fine showing in its second scrimmage during the Falcon Jamboree at Fort Campbell.
Coach Curtis Higgins told Scott Brown with YourSportsEdge.com that he was pleased with the offense’s moving the ball but thought containing the edge defensively was something on which the Wildcats needed work. Higgins told Brown, “…We moved the ball, and if we move the ball and then start taking the short passes, then we’ll start getting some over-the-top passes.” Going forward, won’t that be nice!
Broussard appears critical to those efforts. Broussard is a guy who stretches the field and can operate in space in the short passing game and running the jet from the slot. Broussard plays corner on defense and shooting guard in basketball with his athletic skill set lending well to the above endeavors.
Coach Higgins will be looking for athletic hands to come up on deck this season and lend a hand to the rebuilding job he has undertaken in Cadiz. One thing which gives the faithful some hope for success. Higgins has been there. Higgins has done that!
If there is anyone in the KHSAA capable of getting the rebuilding job done, it appears Trigg County High has found its man. It will be an exciting and fun season to watch starting this week, at home, against Caverna.
That is our bet anyway. Then again, what the heck do we know!
