’25 WR/DB makes plays, sets records
Austin Sperry is an intriguing prep prospect. He holds seven D-1 basketball offers and is considered among the elite talents in that sport in the Bluegrass. The 6’4,” multi-phase contributor also is being recruited at the D-1 level to play football. Sperry uses his incredible vertical explosion and “blow the top off a defensive third level” type speed to take over games and set career marks for his Breathitt High.

Jackson, KY: Austin Sperry is a guy you may know more about from his playing basketball than his football exploits. Sperry has seven D-1 basketball offers, is a ranked prospect in basketball, and displays vertical explosion which makes him a betting favorite in dunk contests.
However, the 6’4,” WR/DB is quite the football player too. His football career at Breathitt High stands testament to that fact.
Sperry has three games of action thus far this year. In the three games, Sperry has caught 10-passes, gained 286-yards through the air to lead the ball club, and tallied three (3) TDs. Sperry is among the leaders on the club in scoring in spite of the limited run.
Sperry plays defense too. Sperry has 13-tackles and has a couple picks to go along with his offensive production.
Against Somerset last weekend, Sperry caught four (4) passes for 80-yards and a TD while registering a pair of tackles. With a 58 yard TD in the 4th Quarter, Austin Sperry is now believed to be the all-time leading receiver in Bobcat history with over 2,600 career receiving yards.

Now Breathitt has the week off before traveling to Leslie County to renew that time-honored blood feud. When consulting the “experts” on the likely outcome of this matchup the voices appear quite a bit divided.
The Durden Ratings Index (DRI) has assigned a score of 54 to Leslie County while Breathitt posts a 48.8. That would suggest Leslie County, particularly in Hyden, Kentucky, would be favored to win.
However, our algorithm back at the office has Breathitt, on a neutral field, beating Leslie 35-21. Even playing in Hyden, the margin is still Breathitt giving Leslie 11-points.
We are going with our algorithm simply because of the money we expended developing it. We are taking Breathitt in the matchup and predicting the Bobcats by ten on the road!
