It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We plan to do this for all of Kentucky’s six classifications and there is no guarantee we will go in order from the top down, or the bottom to the top. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 2A. Sometimes the featured photo with our articles is a bit fuzzy. This guy is a coaching genius who was running Mumme-like offense in the Appalachias, where power run schemes go to die, before Hal Mumme ever got to UK. Ethan Bowling has been a “high energy guy” since coming out of the middle school ranks one of the better thought of prospects in the region at that level of play. He hasn’t disappointed in high school. Bowling is a two-way star along the Breathitt fronts and plays with the zeal which has transformed him into a fan favorite. Enjoy this feature. This player has made every All-Whatever Team available to him in his short HS career and figures to keep making these teams. He has the nose for the football one would expect from a kid whose dad (Shorty Combs) is considered a mountain football legend and former EKU linebacking star. Evan Miller is one of the better framed out ’24s at the Center position along the interior OL. Here is the rub. He has to beat out his younger, hard-charging little brother Carson to hold on to the spot. This should be a spirited battle going forward and the winner will be the Bobcat program and the losers will be the Bobcat opponents. Hey, this is what makes high school football the greatest game on earth in this publication’s opinion. HB.
