People always want to know how we’re able to identify a future high school star so early in that star’s high school career. Well, it isn’t as hard as you think. Look for the young player who pours it on in the offseason, mix in some measurables and early PT, and that will usually be ‘your guy.’ Big D is our guy and he is also among a handful of the fine OC’s around the commonwealth of Kentucky. Enjoy the feature. HB.

Breathitt’s WR/DB superstar an equally accomplished basketball prospect This guy’s athleticism and vertical explosion are both off the charts. These same teams played early in 2019 in Hyden, Kentucky. Clay County won that game by 17-points. Fans can’t act like high school teams are the same year in and year out. There is something called “graduation” which plays a big part in any high school team’s fortunes. Who will win this year’s game to be played the 11th in Manchester? Glad you asked, we broke down for you in this article? Enjoy! HB.

Knott County’s Blake Whitaker proving a reliable target down the field…

When writing features and covering Kentucky high school football, many publications exclusively cover players on the really good teams. Well, there are players on rosters for teams who struggle. The difference between the rosters of teams doing well versus those who aren’t is often the number of good players the roster contains. Blake Whitaker for Knott County Central is a very good football player. Enjoy this feature about a player who (without us) may get both overlooked and underexposed.

We got some correspondence from a recent graduate of Leslie County High School who informed us she had read our article on Preston Spurlock. She told us further that Spencer Napier was the perfect compliment to Spurlock and that the tandem constituted a nearly unmatched pair of second level defenders. We looked at Napier ourselves and, what do you know, we agreed. Enjoy the article. HB.

The AFI-KPG Freshmen All-State Linebackers

The selection committee believed this position group to be the deepest and, maybe, best pool of talented football players in the Class of 2021. It was really hard to narrow down the nominees. There were several nominees who didn’t make this year’s edition who would have in any other. We […]
