South Oldham’s Silas Kennedy shooting up the list of 2028 linemen @silaskennedy33, @CainSams, @SOHighFootball, @SOHSDragons, @CoachBMeredith, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

’28 OT/DE has the length, has the “feet

There is a ton to love about Silas Kennedy. Kennedy, and young players like him, have a lot to do with why the Dragons are considered “players” in the 5A classification most seasons. The Dragons were down in ’25 but look to get back to their traditional placement among its peers. Kennedy looks to be key to such a move. Kennedy is 6’4,” 275-pounds and sports a 4.25-GPA. Kennedy played nine-games on the varsity team, over his sophomore season, and looks to enter his junior year firmly in the play rotation and maybe even on both sides of the football as his defensive position is DE. The kid has really good feet, and shows an ability to sink and play at the level one wants or has to see from a guy charged with stemming the upfield rush. Enjoy this look at a kid rocketing up the 2028-list of tackle prospects in the commonwealth of Kentucky.

Crestwood, KY: We have before discussed this but I was an OL coach when I was in the profession. I evaluate linemen constantly and, truthfully, I am better able to make such assessments than any other position.

When I say a kid has good attributes or characteristics to play along an offensive front, I would write that down if I were you. I ain’t just “whistling Dixie.”

Silas Kennedy has got it. This kid is a 2028 kid who I expect to continue to develop and continue to work hard on his craft. Should he, there is no telling where this train stops.

It almost definitely hit the Saturday station and may hit the Sunday station. It is a matter of how hard he works and how much he wants it.

A lot of the stuff it takes bestowed by the Creator the kid already has. For instance, the kid is 6’4,” 275, can sink his hips and moves his feet very well.

We have a video of this. Check the math and insure we are working the problem correctly (for your teachers out there).

Kennedy played in nine-games as a sophomore. That is significant, in and of itself, for a kid playing 5A football for a program accustomed to competing and challenging for district, regional, and even state titles.

The team threw for just under 1,300-yards, ran for over 2,000, and scored some 33-TDs rushing or passing. The team played 11-games, finished 5-6, and scored 254-points.

That is not enough scoring to surrender 272-points. Surrendering that amount of points in 11-games isn’t good enough defense to play at the level the Dragons are accustomed.

Kennedy can play defense too. Kennedy lists DE among his positions and as his primary deployment on the defensive side. At 6’4, 275 with his length and “twitch,” Kennedy is put together like a coordinator would choose to have at that particular post.

Perhaps we should see more of Kennedy on defense this coming season. We are confident that may be in the plans.

We have seen quite a bit of film on this OT. From what Kennedy is working on, skill development wise, it appears clear the team envisions Kennedy along its offensive front, primarily. That is also where we like him.

Then again, what do we know?
