Jaxson Dernocoeur got a taste of what varsity football entails and finds himself hungry for more! @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @FC_FALCONS_FB

Lasaters...time to wake up and smell the coffee!

Dernocoeur got play in one game and is left hungry for more!

Jaxson Dernocoeur was a freshman on the Fort Campbell roster in 2025. He got a single game’s run in the PT department, logged a single carry, lost 15-yards. Inauspicious? Certainly! However statistics don’t tell the entire tale. Dernocoeur is also a varsity wrestler at Fort Campbell and that particular program has produced some terrific wrestlers and molded some pretty terrific football players. Dernocoeur is a 6’0″ wide-body with plenty of explosion, bend, and twitch and we believe he will be quite an addition to next season’s play rotation. Till then, he is our “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (and Tea)” Featured Player of the Week.

Oak Grove, KY: Today’s feature is about a young freshman footballer who got a single night’s varsity run over his freshman season. Getting any varsity PT as a freshman is pretty good.

His name is Jaxson Dernocoeur. His surname, Dernocoeur, reflects the medieval practice of identifying people by their location or occupation.

The surname Dernocoeur (and its variants like Dernocour/Dernocourt) is of French origin, likely rooted in the medieval period. It is often interpreted as a locational or descriptive name, potentially referring to a “last court” or “last enclosure” (from Old French dernier and court), or linked to a specific farm or estate.

Dernocoeur, is a 6’0,” wide body who we would guess weighs in the neighborhood of 210-225-pounds. Dernocoeur is a ’29 prospect who found a way onto the varsity field for one game’s run in 2025.

Dernocoeur wears number 54. Usually guys with that number play along the interior offensive or defensive line. Guys with numbers in the 50s often play center on offense.

The roster doesn’t list a position for Dernocoeur. Our educated guess is Dernocoeur plays either offensive guard or center based on both his build and jersey number.

Dernocoeur is a wrestler. Fort Campbell has (historically) a very good wrestling program and many athletes who have matriculated through the Falcon wrestling mat have grown into both skilled grapplers and football players.

Fort Campbell losses JaCaryous Perryman and Keshawn Dixon from off the ’25 roster as soon as as the baccalaureate practices commence. Both of those guys made our Big Ass Fans, Small School, All-State Football Team this past season.

Finding talent to replace them will be a challenge. Developing skilled bigs to block and open holes for their replacements will be critical.

Dernocoeur played in one Friday Night game in 2025 but will be ready for much more as a sophomore

Friday Night Fletch, KHSAA statistical website

One young guy who showed flashes of what he can contribute this past season was Jaxson Dernocoeur. Dernocoeur is a young man who may be a first-string, first-level interior offensive lineman in ’26 and should see some time on defense and special teams too.

Dernocoeur is a guy who should continue to improve as he develops and his frame matures. What Dernocoeur needs most pressingly is opportunity. We hear he can handle the rest.

Fort Campbell has a challenge lying ahead. Like we said, the Falcons are losing two all-timers and have to have that slack taken up somewhere.

Coach Mitchell will be busy, this offseason, developing talent to replace that which will traipse across the graduation stage in just a few short months. Among the search for playmakers, and other special talents the Falcons will be losing, at least there are some pieces returning.

Jaxon Dernocoeur is a player with multi-phase skills, was only a freshman last year. By season’s end, Dernocoeur was showing some ability to be counted among the more reliable upfront options the end of the season/playoff roster. Dernocoeur’s return for the Fall of ’26 is cause for optimism; but, he is not alone.

The Falcons have some freshman talent coming along nicely. The sophomore season would be a good time for that talent to assert itself.
