Mike Shannon, the color analyst on Jack Biuck’s broadcasts on St. Louis Cardinals network used to say, “Well Abner (Doubleday), you’ve done it again.” It looks as though Abner Doubleday may have been dabbling in KHSAA football schedules as the Tigers put an unlikely win over district heavyweight, McCracken County, to the test against a very good, 7-1, Somerset High team as the Tigers brace and prepare for season number two, the KHSAA playoffs. There will be those who will tell you the newly consolidated “Tigers,” from Christian County High, will go as far next season as players like Tremayne Clay can lead them. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. Regardless, Clay will be critical. Good thing he is also extremely talented.
