First Day Impressions from Team Kentucky Camp…this is what you pay the money for…

Okay guys, we have gotten around to the various assets we have implanted at Team Kentucky camp and have gone through our notes. This is why you subscribe to this site. Here is the straight skinny…

7th grade report…

We knew going in that the battle at QB among the 7th graders would be fierce. Both QBs are bracketed as the number one QB’s in Kentucky, one as a dual-threat (Joshuah Keith) and the other as a pro-style (Cole Hodge). Well it looks as though the battle is framing up about as we expected. No telling who will start off the game at QB as it depends on what “personality” the offense elects to show starting off the game. Both QBs will get plenty of live-game reps.

Uriah Virzi has been described on Day One as a flat-out animal at the LB spot. We have heard he could possibly start on the 8th grade team and LB is one of that team’s prime position groups. We mentioned earlier Santana Crayton (WR) had really showed his wares as has Shaun Boykins, Jr. (WR) and Calil McNary (RB).

8th grade report…

When our asset sent us a text saying “8th grade LB Group is very strong” our initial reaction was “Duh, tell us something the whole world doesn’t know.” The standouts on Day One were Carson Wright, Laquan McAdoo, JT Adams, and Sam Robinson and those figure to get the nod for the ones on defense in the second level.

As for the third level of defense, Cade Sullivan and Jeremiah “J2” Monroe are patrolling “No-Fly” zones in the defensive backfield. We knew coming in those two would be factors defensively for Team Kentucky as both kids are known commodities at this level of elite play.

We hear Trevon Alexander, OT, is the best lineman in the entire camp in any grade. We use the term “animal” probably too much but it just fits so well with what a lot of these kids can do on a football field. Bradee Davidson has also shown he should be on the first five upfront come game day.

Along the Defensive front, can anyone claim surprise that Westport’s Josh Johnson is dominating play and setting tempo. If you are surprised, where in the Hell have you been? Kaden Briggs has been equally impressive and dominating upfront for Kentucky as both linemen show they will be in the mix this coming Fall for Friday night reps.

The 8th grade running backs have Daniel Swinney and Jaheim Williams setting the pace at present in the ground game while the QBs look comfortable going to WR Destin Cheirs for catches when Kentucky wants to take to the air.

This is all we have so far but keep checking back with us as camp progresses for more information.
