First Day from our assets at Team Kentucky Camps!

Okay guys we have just heard from our asset placed in the Team Kentucky 7th grade camp. He had some interesting things to say, so here we go.

Morning Practice…

First off, the 6th graders are practicing at a different field then where they have the 7th and 8th grade teams. The first practice was crisp and in shells (helmets and shoulder pads). They will be going again at 2 p.m. and the emphasis will be special teams. Special teams have comprised the winning margins the last two or so years so the Kentucky staff will place quite a bit of emphasis (understandably) on this part of the preparation.

Everyone wants to hear about the QB-competition. Kentucky has the two best QBs in the 2024 graduating class both in camp in Cole Hodge (pro-style) and Joshuah Keith (dual threat). The QBs are both looking really good and getting roughly the same amount of reps. Both are mobile, with Keith being slight more mobile and both of them can really sling it with Hodge slightly more comfortable dropping and setting up in the pocket. It is going to depend on the offensive philosophy employed as to which of these guys will be trotted out Saturday with the ones.

So far the receiving corp has looked smooth but the boys hadn’t started hitting yet. The receiver of whom we have heard the most has been Santana Crayton. We got to talk to our asset specifically about him and his exact comment was “stud.”

We are hearing RB, Don’Tre Richardson has shown he really can move and is reliable catching the football on the swing and even down the field out of the backfield. We will look for more information regarding this particular aspect of the offense as we progress. Kentucky has been a Spread team since we have been covering the game at both the 7th and 8th grade level.

2:30 Practice…

Our asset has told us, even though the second practice was just helmets, it was a little more physical. Competition for every position is very close. Everyone is fighting for positions and it’s getting both fast and furious at practice. The teams will be full pads this evening at 7:30 p.m. There will certainly be more come from those encounters.

We should have some more for you later…this is a developing article which will be added to as we go along today. Keep checking the site.

7:30 practice…called for weather…
