Anthony Johns is a bull rumbling at the head of the herd

June 30, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

At KPGFootball we admire the players who kind of have to work for stardom and then do. Anthony Johns has a good frame which appears likely to still be lengthening but his is not the best OL frame we have seen. However, his attention and dedication to strengthening, conditioning, and doing even the little things the right way is among the best we have seen. There aren’t any players in the Class of 2022 which work any harder than this one. Enjoy the article about a young man who so richly deserves anything good which comes his way.

Braxton O’Hara, Class of 2021, a dual threat guy causing headaches for defenses all over the Mountains

June 29, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Folks, the Bobcats are rounding back into the most fearsome team on most people’s schedule and have the chance to be really special in 2019. Braxton O’Hara is just one of the reasons. This is a team which we believe will run the regular season table in 2019. Should they be able to get by Leslie County twice, and handle Beechwood High School and CAL, this may be Mayfield’s opponent at Kroger Field with a title on the line. Remember where you heard it first.

Garrard County’s Hayes Preston, Class of 2025, proof of Team Kentucky’s fallibility

June 27, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Hayes Preston didn’t make the Team Kentucky Future Stars-6th grade team but was an alternate. We know what Hayes can do and we still believe him to be among the very best football players in Kentucky in his graduating class. We can say this because look at everything else he has done. Not everyone in football thrives in shorts and shirts running around cones. Some people need to pad-up and thud-up for the evaluator to get a complete and accurate look at what the kid can do as a football player. We think our buddy, Ricco Hughes, missed one here. We miss on far more guys than he does. Nobody’s perfect, though he is pretty close.

This week’s Independence Bank Revolutionary POW is Madisonville North-Hopkins’ Jordan Vaughn, Class of 2020

June 27, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

Congratulations to Jordan Vaughn for being this week’s Independence Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week. This is an OL at the next level, we believe, who has incredible upside between his height, length, athleticism, and nasty disposition on the field. We believe this to be Western Kentucky’s premier RT and maybe the best RT in all of Kentucky in the Class of 2020. Join us next week for another selection.

Jo Byrns High School’s Bobby Ogg is the Stewart Williams Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week

June 27, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

This Stewart Williams Company Robertson County Player of the Week is Bobby Ogg, who may be one of the finest all-around athletes at Jo Byrns between baseball, basketball, and football. Ogg, who is primarily a PK but can play OLB will be entering his senior year in the Fall of 2019 and figures to give Red Devil fans something to cheer. You know a sure three inside the Red Zone, avoiding an empty trip, will win a HS team quite a few games. We don’t feature the specialists enough in my opinion. Games are either won or lost on special teams. Enjoy this article brought to you by the fine folks at your locally owned, hometown Stewart Williams Furniture Company. Don’t forget to stop by again next week as we crown another deserving recipient.

Class of 2020 Tyquez Douglas, Clarksville NE High School, is the Meeks and Meeks Montgomery County Player of the Week

June 27, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

We are sure Christian County was none too pleased about Tyquez Douglas moving to Clarksville, Tennessee. After all, not a lot of back-end protection the quality of Tyquez Douglas just hanging around Western Kentucky rosters even in the 5A Classification. Oh well, the Eagles of NorthEast High School seem intent on taking full advantage of what amounts to quite a boon for its program. Enjoy this looks at this submission of the Montgomery County Player of the Week and join us next week as we crown a new recipient.

Ethan Phillips, Highland Middle, Class of 2024, a stalwart for his class along the line of scrimmage

June 27, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

We got a note from someone advocating our doing a feature on this particular player. With his having played on two successful and victorious Team Kentucky Future Stars it was easily time to be featuring him. The person sending us the information said “He may not be feature material, but I think he’s a name worth remembering.” Well, we couldn’t disagree with you more about the first part. We absolutely think he’s “feature material.” In fact, here’s his feature right here. Enjoy the article. HB.

Part two of the Class of 2023, Kentucky’s “Freshman Fifteen…”

June 26, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

This is part two of a two part series we are calling the “Freshman Fifteen.” These aren’t necessarily the best fifteen football players or prospects in Kentucky but they are fifteen players we believe most likely to play before the 2019 season is over in the varsity lineup. Some will play because the team has specific need where they are slotted and some will play because they are just that good. We published the first 8 players in this series yesterday and have now finished up with the other seven. Enjoy part two of the two part series we entitled “The Freshman Fifteen.” HB.

Tyler Morris (@Morris1D), Lexington Christian Academy, is the best football player in Kentucky’s Class of 2022

June 24, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

We aren’t sure at which position Tyler Morris is the best player in Kentucky’s 2022 graduating class. We are sure he is probably Kentucky’s best player at several of them. We know this, if we were picking an All-Kentucky team of 2022’s to tour around and play other states or commonwealths we would pick him with our first selection. Enjoy this article about an unparalleled football talent from Lexington, Kentucky. He will start getting offers this next offseason. Book it! HB
