Michael Gossett is a freshman RB/FB who didn’t get any varsity run in ’23 but figures to get quite a bit of PT in ’24 owing to the graduation of two-time, All-State FB, Calil McNary. Gossett, a ’27, may also put his name in nomination for the world’s most famous person named, “Gossett,” and that competition is a bit stiffer than you may realize. We love fullbacks at KPGFootball. Teams which employ FBs are the teams who play football the way we like to watch it. This guy here is among the very best FBs to play in Kentucky’s graduating class of 2024. That is one of the reasons he is winning the sweet T-shirt and the protein pack from Mingua Beef Jerky this week. He played for the Cardinals of Scott Count this past year and its coach, Jim McKee. What makes this district so hard is the fact there are five good football teams, with Union perhaps elite, vying for 4-seats on the bus. The music is about to stop playing. Every time Calil McNary gets a hand-off, the PA says, “McNary on the Carry.” Now, that is branding. Every time we see Central’s 6’2,” 240-pound FB we think, “McNary on the Carry.” When you see him around Hopkins County, try it! He broke several career marks in his fine career last Friday against Trigg County. His night against Trigg alone was jerky-worthy. Throw in the career marks, and it really isn’t close. No time to cry over spilt milk, the Storm has a winnable game upcoming in Marion, Kentucky tomorrow night. We have to get right back on the horse, so to speak, and Marion, Kentucky has proven a tough place to mount for many teams over the years.
