I suppose if we waited for the Christian Academy-Louisville to play an opponent where the outcome might be in question we just wouldn’t get to cover the Centurions. This isn’t their fault but through it first five games, and its 5-0 start, the Centurions toughest game has been a 41-0 running of the clock against 1A title favorite Pikeville High. Pikeville had some transfers forced to sit out that weekend, owing to indecision on the KHSAA’s part on the transfer petitions, but having those three players probably wouldn’t have changed the outcome much if any. Fact is, the Centurions may be Kentucky’s premier high school football team at any level of competition (with apologies to Trinity High) and may feature Kentucky’s elite roster/playing talent. Chief among the talented is “Mr. Football” candidate Ja’Hyde Brown, already committed to Louisville, who is looking every bit of indefensible from the perspective of the first five opponents.

Louisville, KY: News flash for you…KPGFootball handicaps matchups throughout the KHSAA. Matter of fact, as of the writing of this article, we are 57-14 on the year and clipping along at over 80%.
The way our schedule normally works we publish our picks on Tuesday or so. Then on Thursday we publish the longer article of the week, the one where we show our math.
Now this article is routinely between 4,000 and 4,500 words long and takes between 20-25 minutes to read. This article is only for the most serious KHSAA football fanatic, not for the casual fan.
We realize not too many actually read it but we publish it dutifully for a couple reasons. First, we have to prepare for the weekly appearances we make over podcasts and radio like Cleats 2 Whistle (Thursdays), Tony Vanetti’s Morning Show (on Friday mornings, 7:30 EST/6:30 CST)(840WHAS in Louisville), and our show, Big Ass Fans’ Friday Night Kentucky (which airs from 10-11 Saturday mornings eastern, 9-10 central) on various stations across the commonwealth. Secondly, writing and publishing such an article is what makes us the definitive source for that type information across the Bluegrass.

This game is going to be such a blowout, Central Hardin would rather just play it on Thursday instead of waiting for its beating on a Friday, like everyone else who has been tasked to play the Centurions. The closest margin for any team playing CAL this season has been 41-points (congratulations, Pikeville High). If we had to wait for these guys to schedule a team which might stay on the field with them, we just wouldn’t get to cover them at all.
Picking the winner here is easy money. The Centurions will win by as large a margin as it chooses. Central Hardin has as much chance of scoring in this game as most people have to pick the winner of next year’s Kentucky Derby.

Why CAL Holds a Tremendous Advantage
- The Blowout Streak: Every single game CAL has played this season has resulted in a blowout victory of 20+ points, including a dominant 49-0 victory over a strong Ryle program last Friday.
- Central Hardin’s Offensive Struggles: Central Hardin has been plagued by inconsistency, penalties, and turnovers. They have yet to score a single point this season, most recently getting routed 48-0 by North Hardin.
- Historical Precedent: When these two teams faced each other last season (September 19, 2025), CAL soundly defeated Central Hardin by a score of 55-6.
Expect CAL to cover virtually any major unofficial handicap line given the current trajectory of both programs.
The game was played Thursday night. Just like we anticipated, the Centurions won by the exact score we forecast.
What, if anything, did we learn? We may have learned senior Ja’Hyde Brown is indefensible at the high school level of competition.
Brown had quite the night, as did several of his teammates. The dominant victory extended top-ranked CAL’s state-best winning streak to 27 games.

- Jackson Burke (QB): 8/8 completions, 193 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Kentucky’s most efficient QB in its completive history at the KHSAA level had another one of his type nights.
🏈 Receiving & Returning
- Ja’Hyde Brown (WR): 6 receptions for 158 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns (receptions of 31, 51, 65, and 14 yards). He also returned a punt for a touchdown, totaling 5 touchdowns on the night.
🏈Special Teams Notes
- The Centurions’ special teams units were highly efficient, returning four kicks for touchdowns over the course of the game.
With this win, CAL improved to 5-0 on the season, while Central Hardin fell to 0-5. In the end, who can stay on the field with this team? By our estimation, that team may exist but it doesn’t compete at the 3A level and it may not be a commonwealth of Kentucky team.
