Kendrick, No. 67

NG-DT, Nate Kendrick (Class of 2020) who is listed as being 6-0, 249-pounds, must have put his weight down from middle school. The Yellow-Jacket, interior defender looks well thicker, to this reporter, than 249; but, oh well.

We can assure you Springfield’s opponents have had little success keeping him out of the offensive backfield this season. Head coach, Dustin Wilson has found a use for him on the offensive side of the football to accentuate his defensive contributions.

We have seen him used from out of the backfield primarily as a lead blocker, clearing the way for the QB (primarily) to scamper right through opposing defenses. Not a lot of HS linebackers want to come up into the hole and take Kendrick on either.

Tonight, the Yellow-Jackets will take on its most heated and hated in-county rival in the Greenbrier Bobcats. Each team’s respective records mean very little when this game annually convenes. Tonight’s game should be no different. A steady dose of Nate Kendrick is sure to help the Yellow-Jackets come out of tonight on the right side of the ledger.

Congratulations to Nate Kendrick of Springfield High School, in Springfield, Tennessee, for being selected the Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us, next week, as we anoint a new recipient.
