Shannon Lofton is ready for the blow-up and is coming out! @shannondupree21, @ScottParkey, @WBH7272, @TCCardinalsFB, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

’28 ATH looks to light up Cardinal opponents in ’25

🎶There’s a new [Shannon Lofton] comin’ out and [he] just had to live..[He’s] completely positive…🎶

Shannon Lofton came out of high school among the more talked about athletes in the middle school game. He had led his Region I, KYMSFA All-Star team to the Battle of the Regions Championship, had won a middle school KYMSFA track & field championship in the high jump, clocked a 4.5-second, 40-yard dash all while ranking among the better athletes in Kentucky’s ’28 class. He didn’t disappoint as a freshman in high school either. We expect this kid to burst onto the KHSAA scene next season, as a sophomore, for Coach Scott Parkey’s Taylor County Cardinals.

Campbellsville, KY: Diana Ross dropped a song, “I’m Coming Out,” on an album titled the same as the song. It was released in August of 1980 and had 37 people contribute to the lyrics who will not be specifically named here. If you must know their names, here is a link.

The song promises the listener that a new Diana Ross is coming out. According to the lyrics she wants to live, has to give, and is completely positive that she is gonna do it, and like you never knew it… Well that was prophetic.

Ross responded with selling over 100 million records worldwide. Billboard ranked Diana Ross as the 47th Greatest Artist of all time and the 11th Greatest Hot 100 Female Artist of all time.

Shannon Lofton appears headed on a similar trajectory. If you study the data, he appears destined to break out of his shell and this coming season.

Lofton completed 29 of 50 passes for 285-yards, gained 190-yards and scored a pair of TDs rushing, on 33-carries, caught 13-passes, all while finishing fifth on the team in scoring. If you factor in his hand full of tackles on defense, that is fine production over a nine (9) game varsity run playing football for a six win, 4A football team.

There is plenty of young talent on the roster for the Cardinals who will be back for another stab at a longer playoff run. There is plenty of talent in the middle school ranks about to hit the roster this coming Fall.

Lofton is 5’10,” and weighs in at 160-pounds. In addition to what he does on the football field, he is among the most decorated track athletes in the KHSAA. Lofton won the Kentucky title in MS in the high jump and entered this season ranked nationally.

According to Milesplit.com, Lofton is ranked the number 24 high jumper in the nation. That is pretty dad-burn explosive.

Taylor County needs to see a lot more from Lofton in the ’25 season. This is a program which is accustomed to regular season success and deep playoff runs.

Scott Parkey is entering his third year at the helm. Under his guidance, so far, the Cardinals have won 15-games in two years.

As the song goes and with apologies to Diana Ross, 🎶The time has come for [Lofton] to break out of this shell/I have to shout that [Lofton is] comin’ out!🎶 You get the point.
