What’s wrong with college football recruiting? Delving into “prospect-speak” and getting at what is actually being said when we’re asked to “trust the measurables!”

This article contains the official prospect evaluation of a kid ranked higher than any Kentuckian in the entire commonwealth. He has been committed since February of this year to Power-5, FBS-level powerhouse program in the most prestigious league in college football. Yet, if you read the evaluation, the evaluator has been quite clear the kid isn’t good at football. You should be able to clearly see this, if you can read ‘prospect-speak.’ Well, we can, and in this article we break this down for you. A kid with this evaluation should never have been offered by any school in Division 1. This is what makes recruiting the joke it has become. HB.

If you have been reading our weekly “Outstanding Performances…” articles, the series of articles should have impressed upon you how very difficult winning this award really is. We had another spectacular week where there were numerous performances any one of which would have been a fine performance to single-out. This week, week two of the playoffs, we honor a senior who did a whole lot of everything in leading his team to its District Championship. This Time Around…how’d we do?

We published an article entitled “This Time Around” last week. In the article we predicted five games which were won by the team we thought would lose the District Championship game in spite of being one-seeds and playing at home. We were right in all five, though one of them was a COVID-19 forfeit which we won’t count. In this article we make an accounting of just how we did and how on the money we were. This week’s “Revolutionary Player of the Week” is Andrew Munster who saw his career end in the first round but who has been a four-time recipient of this award. Munster is out of eligibility (high-school wise) which we believe to be cause for mourning around McLean County.
