There are plenty of people around the western end of Kentucky waiting to see what a consolidated football roster at the new school will look like. The Tigers were a right formidable, district one, 6A team in 2025 on its own. Still, there are some pieces from the former Colonel roster which will undoubtedly help add to a group of players from Hopkinsville High who will also be assimilated. We believe the conglomerate will add up to a formidable 6A team. We believe that hope is both well founded and likely. Antonio Ware (’29) is a kid we covered in middle school. Ware rendered an incredible performance last year especially for a freshman who found the field in 6A ball and quite frequently. This new school provides Ware additional opportunities to demonstrate, more fully, exactly the type of football player he really is. I will look forward to seeing how this ends up working. Hopkinsville, KY: We are roughly three weeks from opening the 2026 season. Among the interesting story lines around the western end of Kentucky is how good will the newly consolidated high school be in year one.
Christian County, Kentucky has historically produced formidable high school athletic talent. We believe there is plenty of football playing talent from which to draw entering this inaugural season.
One guy we will be watching closely is Antonio Ware, who was an oft-used skill player on the Christian County Colonel roster a year ago in 6A. Ware logged playing time in all of the Colones games in 2025 and on multiple sides and in more than one phase of the attack.
Ware caught a 25-yard pass, registered 14-tackles, registered a TFL, and picked off a pass Ware returned 40-yards as a freshman. That is solid production out of any first year player.
Ware is 6’0,” 165-pounds and a burner. Our Western KY agent tells us Ware may start offensively, at flanker, and may pull double duty in the defensive back third.
Ware has shown this preseason he can beat defenders deep in the throw game. We would like to see Ware work the short patterns better and exhibit the type hands and concentration we believe likely to make Ware a star this coming Fall.
Ware has the want to and the ability to perform at a very high clip. Now all he needs is opportunity. Antonio, do you hear that knocking? Opportunity is at the door.
