It is pretty refreshing to find a football star as versatile as Lincoln Wickiser who is willing to put in the work this young man has put in off the field. This kid has a varied skill set and should prove invaluable on both the offensive and defensive trenches. What is even more impressive is willingness to plug in and play wherever needed. Football parents can be demanding and hard with whom to deal. There have been many a mother insist her Boo-Boo is a QB no matter what the team needs, no matter what the coaching staff thinks. Wickiser is a lengthy kid who is 6’1,” with a 78-inch wing span making him player taller than he lists on any roster. That is special among today’s young football stars. With an attitude and an anatomy like his, there is very little doubt he will have a big year in 9th grade and an even bigger HS career going forward. For all these reasons, Wickiser is our “Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator Player of the Week.”

This week our feature is about Lincoln Wickiser. Wickiser is a 6’1,” 265-pound OL/DL who can play any of the three interior slots, from guard to guard, together with the ability to slide down inside, defensively, and give the team quality reps in the run box.
Wickiser is willing to play wherever his coaching staff and teammates may need him. He gives his talent freely for the betterment and enrichment of the team and not necessarily for himself which is a refreshing attribute to see in a young football star in the infancy of his 9th-grade season at one of Kentucky’s more historic and storied programs, Covington Catholic.
We believe Wickiser will see the field as a 9th grader sometime his freshman season. That belief is really saying something about a 9th-grader in the highest echelons of Kentucky 4A football.
Wickiser, and players like him, are the reason Covington Catholic fans are feeling optimistic about this coming Fall and the many Falls to follow. Wickiser, and players like him, will continue to field a title contender, both this and every season, at Covington Catholic given adequate support, community and institutional buy-in, and development opportunity.
This is exactly how great high school programs, like Covington Catholic, are built. The great programs are constructed from the ground up, just like great businesses, just like Big Ass Fans.

Park Hills, KY: I have learned quite a bit over the course of my tenure covering middle and high school football in Kentucky. As we have now embarked upon another season of our radio show, Friday Night, Kentucky, we are preparing for another exciting season of upsets, exceptional plays, Mr. Football runs, All-State team selections, and everything else the greatest sport on earth permits.
Among the most important things I have learned in the years I have committed to covering middle and high school football is the following. One, programs survive on players who selflessly give of their talents to the betterment of their teammates and teams. Two, having a good feeder program is paramount to having a successful high school football program.
Lincoln Wickiser, a ninth grader on the high school roster at one of Kentucky’s mote storied programs (Covington Catholic High) fits the bill so well in a variety of ways. Wickiser is a 6’1, 265-pounder who can play any of the interior OL slots (Center included) together with deployment along the defensive line interior.
Wickiser has the length. while only 73-inches tall Wickiser boasts a 78-inch wingspan. Wickiser has the speed and athleticism to factor in on special teams as a coverage and/or down field booking guy and expect to see him doing that in high school on the coverage/return units.
Wickiser isn’t as strong yet as he either needs to be, or certainly will be, as he continues to more fully develop in the Colonel strength and conditioning program. However, Wickiser is getting there.
Wickiser has been consistent. Wickiser has a tremendous work ethic. Wickiser has made considerable offseason strides entering this his freshman season.
Wickiser does considerable volume work in the weight room. He wants to increase his stamina. Wickiser wants to be in position to contribute to the team in the 4th quarter, when the drives get long and the outcome of the game is on the line.
As he develops, Wickiser will morph into a star. It is happening right now before our very eyes. Be ready for it, Colonel fans! Embrace it!
