Kelton Forrester, from Murray High, is the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Co.’s Feature of the Week @MurrayTigers, @MLT_Sports, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom @MurrayLedger, @teeroyhowell, @LasatersCoffee,

’29 defender has offensive production in his future and is a track & field varsity performer!

Kelton Forrester registered five tackles, playing in 11-varsity contests, on a 3A roster good enough to make the Championship game against Christian Academy Louisville a year ago. Murray lost some all-timers from off that roster that will have to be replaced. Forrester figures to be among the young guys who will be called upon to do the replacing. We believe the chances are the Tigers will thrive and much of this belief is tied to our faith in the staff’s ability to develop its young, superbly athletic multi-phased athletic skill sets like Kelton Forrester.

The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, based in Cadiz, Kentucky, was founded August 7, 1970. The bank obtained trust powers in 1978.

Murray, KY

It is a locally owned, independent bank which has expanded, through the years, to locations in Hopkinsville and Murray in addition to Cadiz. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company has focused on community finance and dealing face-to-face with both families and small-business owners while fulfilling customer needs and the dreams of area families and businesses regardless of size or construct.

We, like our area schools, strive for high performance and finding ways to prosper in an ever-changing economic environment. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company remains committed to superior performance goals coupled with an exceptional quality of customer service.

’29 RB/LB, Kelton Forrester, was among the local, young, high school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality this past season. What will this star multi-phase athlete pull off in coming seasons?

Well, that is the reason Forrester is our featured player of the week. If history should repeat itself, whatever it turns out to be will be special.

Murray, KY: Melvin Cunningham has done a tremendous job moving from West Virginia to Murray, KY to accept the reigns of the Murray High Tiger football program. Of course, when the Tigers got Melvin, they got the entire Cunningham clan including his son, Kenyon, whom we have before featured and who will turn out to be quite the player for the Tigers at the all-important, QB-slot.

Kenyon isn’t the only prized ’29 prospect on the Murray Roster. There is Kelton Forrester.

Forrester is a 5’7,” 152-pounder who figures to play RB and OLB eventually. Forrester was good enough to get 11-games varsity run in 2025 though only a freshman on a roster good enough to make the 3A title game on Kroger Field.

Coach Cunningham utilized this freshman primarily on special teams and defensively as he registered five (5) tackles on the season. Forrester has put in the work, this offseason, and has put on good weight. Forrester has his lifts approaching where they need to be; if you follow what we are attempting to lay down here.

Things were appearing quite bleak. The Erlanger-Lloyd contingent were making noise. Then it was fellow freshman, Kenyon Cunningham, to the rescue.

Young-Cunningham, exhibiting the “short memory” required to play the position, came in the very next series and found fellow freshman, Braylon Patterson, on a 47-yard toss to the 11. Isiah Martin, ’26, powered his way in from the Wildcat formation and the Tigers were staked to a lead the team wouldn’t relinquish, 24-20.

The Tigers went on to Lexington and played (perhaps) the best high school team in Kentucky at any classification in the Christian Academy-Louisville (CAL). While that outcome wasn’t what the Tiger faithful were hoping, we don’t know, as we sit here today, it would have been outcome determinative with Robbins under center.

Robbins under center is no longer an option. With so many weapons graduating in just a few months, what appears to be the answer going forward? We like the Kenyon Cunningham equation, if anyone is asking us. We would like to see a lot more of Kelton Forrester too.

Cunningham and Forrester both turned in solid work for freshmen on a 14-1 ball club at the 3A level.

Cunningham completed 12 of his 23-passing attempts with a TD against three (3) picks. Cunningham gained 177-yards on 22-carries with a pair of ground scores. Cunningham caught 18-of Robbins’s passes for 201-yards and a pair of TDs. Cunningham scored 24-points on the year. Forrester contributed five (5) stops and was a fixture on the coverage and return units on special teams.

Cunningham looks to have the reigns to the offense in ’26 and for a few seasons more

Friday Night Fletch

We believe Forrester will see more time at RB in ’26. We believe Forrester will prove a three (3) phase athlete for Coach Cunningham going forward.

The Tigers served notice in ’25 that it was a powerhouse 3A program with whom to reckon. Murray High will have a target on its back going forward.

Can the ’29s, like Cunningham, like Forrester, continue the development and run of success it has enjoyed to date? If it is to do that it will require sustained brilliant flashes similar to what we saw a season ago.

We know this, the Tigers will be excellently coached and excellently prepared. We like this program’s track record. We love this program’s trajectory.

This offseason will go along way in answering questions. Regardless, seeing the answers revealed should prove entirely interesting.

Let’s just hope Kelton Forrester continues to demonstrate the marked improvement he has shown thus far. That would really get this program off on the right foot in 2026!
