We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Kenyon Cunningham is simply among the best multi-phase football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today at any level and a tremendous prospect in more than just football (basketball). Cunningham came to the Murray High roster when his dad got the job and has become among the commonwealth’s most talented players. Cunningham has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Cunningham is only going to improve over his sophomore season, particularly on offense where he should get many more opportunities. Cunningham is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Jesse Clark is a 6’3,” 260 pound DE who many believe is about the best DE on the western end of KY. Clark has the frame, length, and size you want at the “big schools” and with a 3.5-GPA he is also sure to gain admission pretty much everywhere from the SEC to the Ivy-League. This kid has plenty of “leg kick” and get off coming around the end and his explosion will only increase as he matures physically. This is a long, tall, lengthy, edge presence schools love to be able to slot defensively. Enjoy this feature.

We like the Aces to get back to Lexington this coming season and believe they will escape with the crown. We also believe programs like Beechwood, LCA, and Mayfield will have a bunch to say about it. We are approaching round four (4) in the KHSAA playoffs. All of these teams left standing are very good. There are exactly no bad apples left in the barrel. It will be the “little things” which differentiate between winning and losing at this point. “Mighty Mayfield” has themselves the home field and a kicker in Lincoln Suiter who has before come through for the Cardinals in a “big game,” with the game on the line. If called upon, Friday night, will he come through once more? We shall see, but the Cardinals are confident. Enjoy the feature. HB.
