’29 multi-phase contributor looks to break out in 2026
Jackson Wyatt had quite the freshman season for a team playing 4A football. Calloway County may have been the surprise team in the first district in 2025 but they won’t be sneaking up on anyone this coming season. Wyatt has a versatile skill set and was integral a year ago as a defender and on offense catching passes and even running from scrimmage. We look for him to really come on in 2026 as graduation has robbed the Lakers of some pieces the program is likely to miss. Enjoy this look at a fine young player who had a tremendous freshman season heading into a sophomore year where much will be expected from him.

’29 Athlete Jackson Wyatt was among the young, high school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality this past season. Wyatt was a contributor on a 4A, first district roster which would see him wrack up production both defensively and offensively over the course of his freshman season.
Well, that is the reason Wyatt is our featured player of the week. If history should repeat itself, and should his performance improve as a sophomore as much as many would anticipate, whatever Wyatt ends up contributing should constitute a mighty special level of game play.

Murray, KY: Coby Lewis has done a tremendous job upon accepting the reigns to the Calloway County High Laker football program. Of course, when the Lakers got Lewis they were getting a proven commodity with plenty of coaching experience already under his belt.
Jackson Wyatt is a ’29 prospect who will be entering his sophomore season. According to last season’s statistics, Wyatt got nine (9) games of PT on the varsity and was right productive over that amount of time.
Wyatt had 15-tackles and four (4) TFLs defensively. To go along with all of that, Wyatt picked a pass, wracked up 18-IRNYs, and forced a fumble.
Wyatt also played some offense. Wyatt caught four (4) passes, one (1) of which he housed. Wyatt carried the ball seven (7) times for 57 yards or around eight (8) or so yards per rushing attempt.
Wyatt is 6’1,” and weighs around 180-pounds or so. Wyatt lists WR as an offensive position and plays either safety or OLB on defense.
Wyatt has the size to play up in the run-box. Wyatt also possesses the speed and length to play out wide on offense or in the deep third defensively.
Wyatt is a two phase guy now who has the ability, skill set, and athleticism to contribute in all three phases of the Laker attack. We love guys with this type versatility.
We believe Wyatt may develop, as the season progresses, into a future three-phase performer which will make this kid tremendously recruitable at various different college levels. Wyatt has plenty of length, strength, power, speed, and explosion; is a plus athlete; and has good straight line, separation speed in the open field.

The Lakers served notice in ’25 that it was a 4A, first-district program with which to reckon. Calloway County will have a target on its back going forward. Continuing to develop talent like Wyatt will be hugely important if the Lakers are to continue to climb the first district, 4A ladder.
Can Coach Lewis continue the development and run of success he has enjoyed with this program to date? If Coach Lewis is to do that he will need sustained brilliant flashes similar to what we saw from Wyatt as a freshman a season ago.
We know this, the Lakers will be excellently coached and excellently prepared. We like this program’s track record. We love this program’s trajectory.
This offseason will go along way in answering questions. Regardless, seeing the answers revealed should prove entirely interesting.
Let’s just hope Jackson Wyatt continues to demonstrate the skills and ability he showed in 2025. That would really get this program off on the right foot in 2026!
