2026 dual threat QB has proven himself on the hardwood and gridiron

Cash Harney, a ’26 two sport athlete who is a dual-threat QB in football, is a 5’11,” 180-pound athlete who has proven himself on the basketball court as well as the gridiron. Harney had a tremendous game against Boyle County in the regional championship (3rd) round of the playoffs. Of course, no one should have been the least bit surprised. Harney has done it all year as our prior article we published earlier this year detailed. Harney has played a huge role in the team’s compiling an 11-2 record and a date with Franklin County (12-0) for the Semi-State Championship in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Mingua Beef Jerky uses Enviro-Pac CHU-2000 equipment to cook its meat to USDA required levels for both moist or dry operation. Mingua Beef Jerky wants you to become one of its many satisfied customers by sampling its quality hand sliced, all natural beef jerky. We know you’ll love it and come back for more, again and again.

Ronnie Mingua began experimenting with making beef jerky back in the 1990s. He shared his efforts with neighbors and friends, soon realizing he had come up with something different and superior to all other beef jerkies on the market. From these humble beginnings, Mingua Beef Jerky got its start.

Today, the Mingua Beef Jerky Company still prides itself on using its old-fashioned, all-natural recipes which offer outstanding products to customers across the nation. The recipes are a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

Our recipes and our quality ingredients, hand-cut from solid pieces of beef, are never chopped or formed like other brands, making our products superior and one of a kind. That would make our products similar to this week’s Protein-packed Performer, Cash Harney ’26 dual threat from Covington Catholic High in Park Hills, Kentucky.

Park Hills, KY: There is an element in the KHSAA about the name on the front of the jersey meaning more than the name on the back of the jersey. It may sound trite but it is true. Schools from prestigious programs with prestigious pedigrees tend to fair better in big-time games than their opponents.

Now, when two programs with championship pedigrees, like Boyle County and Covington Catholic should happen to clash, it is often anyone’s guess as to the outcome. Two such programs did clash. They happened to be Boyle County hosting Covington Catholic. The Colonels in blue showed they weren’t dwarfed by the moment nor the location.

Cash Harney, who we have already featured this year in an article with “Ca$h Money” in it, showed why we like calling him that. Harney, on the commonwealth’s biggest stage against the commonwealth’s best team at any classification was cash money in deed.

Harney completed three (3) of his four (4) passing attempts for 102-yards and a TD. Harney carried the football from scrimmage 28-times, tallying 234-yards with two (2) ground scores. Harney led the team in scoring and that is quite a bit if he only played offense.

Harney plays defense too, something not widely seen at the 4A classification and higher

Harney plays defense too, something not widely seen at the 4A classification and higher. Harney registered three (3) tackles and a FR.

Harney is a star at point guard in addition to his play at QB. Harney is 5’11,” weighs 180-pounds, and is on track to graduate in the spring of 2026. That means the Colonels get him back next season. Pretty scary thought, wouldn’t you agree?

Covington Catholic is accustomed to being the “predator,” not the “prey.” This upset Friday night in Danville has to rank among the program’s biggest upsets.

Harney sports a 3.9 GPA, in addition to his athletic feats. He is a “take” and much sought after athlete by the area football programs from both Kentucky and Ohio.

“It’s a huge win, huge game, probably the biggest win yet,” Harney told one publication. “We came in focused, we were on a mission when we came in and we executed the best we could.”

Boyle County (12-1) had won 32 consecutive games and had risen as high as No. 11 in some of the major national top 25 rankings. The Rebels had routed the Colonels 41-0 in the state finals a season ago. Flipping the script this year had to have been really sweet.

“They’ve (Boyle County) been on a tear for the last two years, so for our program to come down here on the road – and I think everybody’s counted us out all year long, and we came here and our kids just fought,” Eviston was quoted recently as saying.

Covington Catholic will travel to Franklin County for a semifinal game this Friday after turning the lights out at Rebel Stadium. The Colonels figure to be underdogs for the second straight week, a role the team appears to relish. Maybe they can keep being doubted right onto Kroger Field!

KPGFootball prediction: Franklin County 35, Covington Catholic 24
