’27 Bruin defender leading his team to unimaginable heights
Santee Brock is a sophomore who didn’t begin the year in the lineup. Of course, it doesn’t matter so much from where one starts. It matters more where one ends. Brock has studded out and, consequently, the Bruins are playing its best football right when any Bruin fan would want, in the playoffs. What Brock has done in only seven (7) games this year defies description, defies belief. What Brock was able to do against Male in the second round may be similarly described.

Big Ass Fans from Lexington, Kentucky has a simple corporate goal. The company is “creating a more comfortable world,” one fan at a time.
There is way more to Big Ass Fan’s product line than its size. Each fan Big Ass Fans makes is backed by a commitment to performance, reliability, and innovation that has been the driving force behind the company for over twenty years.
The logo is the rear of a donkey (Fanny) swishing its tail back and forth. The trademarked logo is among Kentucky’s more celebrated and well known corporate identities across the commonwealth and has come to represent commitment to quality, cutting-edge innovation, and product reliability.
Big Ass Fans is so much more than just a gigantic fan. It is gigantic quality, gigantic performance, and a gigantic commitment to reliability and innovation. Its size is far from the only selling point about our product. Our product is a Kentucky Comfort Creator…and, these days, isn’t that exactly what Kentucky needs?
Louisville, KY: The second round of the playoffs contained some astounding upsets. None of these upsets were any more astounding than 5-6 Ballard High knocking a 9-2 Male High team out of the playoffs in only the second round.
Santee Brock played a significant role in Ballard’s upset. Brock registered 13-tackles and a pair of TFLs for the Bruin defense which beat Male 23-17 at Male.
Brock, a ’27 linebacker, has only played in seven (7) games this season. This tells me he began the season where most sophomores do on a Kentucky 6A roster in one of Kentucky’s toughest districts…on the sidelines. Brock has found the playing surface now and it has the Bruins playing well headed to Trinity for the Regional Championship.
In Brock’s seven games of action, Brock has registered 62-tackles, six (6) TFLs, five (5) Qb sacks, and a forced fumble. This is quite a bunch of production for a sophomore laboring on one of Kentucky’s more talent laden rosters.
Brock is a diminutive guy. Brock is listed at 5’9,” and weighs in the 170-180 pound vicinity. That may have been another issue retarding his playing time (PT). Brock fails the eye-test. Brock doesn’t fail the heart and talent test. Brock doesn’t fail the “dog” test either.
Ballard travels cross-town to take on Trinity High. Trinity is 10-2 on the year, the defending 6A football champions, and beat Ballard 20-0 on October 11, 2024.
The important thing in this metric is the last time the two met, Brock didn’t register a single tackle. We are willing to bet that won’t be tonight’s metric.
So the question becomes, now that Brock has (seemingly) come into his own, can the Bruins repeat what they did last week with Male, and turn around the October 20-0 margin? We don’t think so.
We believe Trinity wins 27-6. Then again…what do we know?
KPGFootball's Prediction: Trinity 27, Ballard 6
