Ballard certainly knows something about developing top-flight talent at DE. Remember Jadairion Smith? We sure do. Ballard is now 6-3 with Woodford County remaining and Mikel Clack is the new “Jadairion Smith.” Clack leads the commonwealth in sacks and has a long frame, albeit slight, but he can really move. Ballard is staring down the barrel of a 7-3 finish, and with the 7th-highest RPI in the class, the 6A, 5th district Bruins hope to host to host an opening game. Friday Night Fletch

Davon “Smoke” Rudolph, ’24 from Ballard High, is bringing the SMOKE! This guy is a OLB/Nickle candidate who brings a ton to the table for college recruiters. That is probably why this kid will be ranked among Kentucky’s elite when the final rankings of the ’24 graduating class gets published. […]

@JadairionS (Edge Beast) from @BHSBRUINS is @1776Bank ‘Revolutionary Player of the Week.’ @minguabeefjerky @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @Ballard_Sports

This week’s ‘Revolutionary Player’ may be Kentucky’s most highly decorated and recruited player in the ’22 class. If not the highest, he is certainly among them. He had a tremendous night against the Tigers of Hoptown in spite of his not playing as many snaps as opponents will like see from him in succeeding weeks. Join us again a week from today and we will do all this once more. HB.

Jadairion Smith is among the very elite recruits at his position nationally. He is also listed among the elite Kentucky ’22s which goes without saying. Independence Bank like to both seek out and recognize the very best among Kentucky high school athletes and this young man certainly qualifies. Enjoy the feature and join us next week as we award this to another worthy recipient. HB.

Slept On…@JusticeThomps from @BallardFball, His Days of Being Overlooked are Almost Over

April 30, 2020 Henry Lyon 2

At 6-0, 230-pounds, this cat makes plays all over the field. Austin Gough (Owensboro Senior) and he are the consummate 2nd-level players in Kentucky. Both of them are FBS-level performers and even FBS frames at where they project. So, why is Thompson being slept on, or Gough for that matter? Well, we don’t know but it won’t happen for ever. Sooner or later, the cream will rise to the top. Enjoy the article! HB.

Louisville’s Kiyaunta Goodwin ready to bang with the big boys!

August 8, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

When Phillip Fulmer, now the AD at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, but once a National Championship winning football coach at the same school, met Kiyaunta Goodwin he exclaimed it was like being in the movie “The Blind Side” a second time. That movie featured the coming of age of Michael Oher who went on to become one of the NFL’s marquee tackles. Of course Michael Oher was only 6-4, 315-pounds. Kiyaunta Goodwin is 6-8, 350. Regardless, Kiyaunta has been favorably compared to such greats for years now and has the opportunity, this season, to come of age and really showcase what he can do. You see, the player formerly playing 1A football for Holy Cross has now transferred to Louisville’s Ballard High School (6A). Enjoy the article.
