’27 three-phase guy a ‘big timer’ in the classroom and community too!
No one came out of middle school more talked about than Tristen Dillard. His high school career has seen him log time on offense, defense, and special teams and the kid has performed admirably everything asked of him. Well, just a few weeks ago, Dillard was appointed to the prestigious Governor’s Scholarship Program signifying his being among the elite students in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Graduates of the program get free tuition at any of Kentucky’s universities. Wow, that is impressive. What else is impressive is the versatile skill set athletically this kid brings to the table for Coach Dustin Lopez and his staff at the newly configured Christian County Tigers program (6A, First District).

Hopkinsville, KY: No body came up from the middle school ranks any more talked about than Tristin Dillard. Prep RedZone had him the second highest rated 8th-grade RB in the commonwealth of Kentucky.
Dillard, like so many just like him on the Christian County Colonel roster, had the misfortune of coming up (and balling out) for a coaching staff and program on life support. The Colonel program just kind of mailed it in the last few seasons of the program’s existence pre-consolidation with the cross-town Hoptown team.
Sorry. We call it like we see it around here.
Those players have a real opportunity for new life. Many of these guys feel reinvigorated as they prepare for the inaugural season of the Christian County Tigers.
While having roster talent was an issue at Christian County (especially when a lot of the better players transferred across town to play for Hoptown before the consolidation), having talent is no longer an issue. The newly consolidated Tigers will have roster talent. They will also have Tristin Dillard.
The Tigers plan on benefitting from some of the influx of talent this coming year. Picking up some players, like Tristin Dillard, should certainly help with that as Dillard is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Featured Player of the Week.
Dillard has a versatile skill set athletically and never met an “A” he couldn’t earn
Friday Night Fletch
Dillard is diminutive in stature. Aside from that, Dillard is a powerhouse in the weight room and brimming with football savvy and talent. He is an unstoppable force academically.
Dillard tells KPGFootball he wants to be a Medical Doctor. No one (aside from himself) can derail that plan.
Dillard has played a lot of LB in his varsity career though he didn’t last year, focusing on offense where he plays RB. Dillard’s numbers a year ago were modest (145-yards rushing, a pair of TDs, three (3) receptions), but he was the team’s fourth highest scorer and we are willing to bet he had the highest GPA on the team.
Academically, Dillard never met an A he couldn’t earn. Dillard has been selected for the Governor’s Scholarship Program. One has to be more than just a good student for admission to that elite company.
The Kentucky Governor’s Scholarship Program (GSP) is a prestigious 5-week summer residential program for rising seniors (entering 12th grade). Applicants must be Kentucky residents, typically hold at least a 3.5+ unweighted GPA, and have strong ACT/SAT scores.
The application requires a 500-word essay, teacher/community recommendations, and a detailed record of extracurriculars and service. Making this program is no small accomplishment. One has to be both an excellent student and citizen for admission.
We aren’t sure, entering his senior year, that Tristin Dillard has ever made a grade below an A in his entire academic curriculum. Whatever the highest GPA imaginable turns out to be, that is what his GPA most certainly is.

Dillard reports his GPA is a 4.75 on a four-point scale. Oddly enough, that seems about right.
Dillard is an A+ student. Dillard is an A+ citizen. Like we before said, it takes both to be admitted to the Governor’s Scholarship Program.
That being said, we felt it was high time for people around Hoptown, KY (Christian County High) to take notice of this outstanding performer and outstanding young man. Hey Tigers, as far as Tristin Dillard is concerned; it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee!
Join us next week as we return to honor another weekly prize winner. Until then, get on down to one of our Christian County Area locations and remember, our products are superior and one of a kind; just like Christian County High School’s Tristin Dillard.
