The KPGFootball preseason, Class 5A, top five. @WoodfordFBall @minguabeefjerky @HLPreps @KyHighs @KyHighFootball @1776Bank @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @CovCathFootball @SrHighFootball @FDouglassFB @SouthWarrenFB

When you get to Kentucky 5A, that is certainly denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 5A level or higher gets increasingly rare but you will still see it and usually those pulling it off are really special talents. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.

Kasey Boone from @SrHighFootball is the @1776Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week. @minguabeefjerky @MaxPreps @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin

Talk about coming into a job in a tough spot, we can’t imagine an individual inheriting a tougher job than Kasey Boone did a year ago. His performance was remarkable for lack of a better term. Congratulations to this young QB, who is a ’23 prospect, and remember to get on by and visit our three (3) fine Owensboro area branches today and discover what makes Independence Bank’s people, products, and services revolutionary in the financial services industry. HB.

In the Running…Lots of performances around Kentucky-candidates for @minguabeefjerky ‘Protein-packed Performer’ award. @1776Bank @KyHighFootball @MaxPreps @PrepSpin

For the third consecutive week we canvass the commonwealth digging for exceptional performances to highlight and perhaps reward. This week we featured some 21 or so performances, and 26 if you want to count the offensive line from Madisonville who will be tough to beat for any award with their performance from this past weekend. Anyway, here is this week’s “In the Running…” Enjoy the feature. HB.

Ethan Gough from @SrHighFootball; in @KyHighFootball are ‘Goughs’ ever really freshmen? @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @1776Bank @AGLOADING26

What do you do when you are joining a roster your big brother just left as the school’s all-time, career tackler. Ethan Gough would say just take his number and show everyone you can play a little football too. That is exactly what Ethan “Big E” Gough is doing. Better watch out Red Devil opponents, there’s more to come from a No. 26 named Gough on that Senior High team going forward. KPGFootball is glad to be well position to enjoy the ride! Enjoy the feature. HB.

The Preseason Top-5 in the 5A-Classification. Some stalwarts and a surprise await you! @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @1776Bank

We have been projecting the top-5 team, preseason, in each of Kentucky’s six-classifications. We have been bold in some of our predictions, picking some wild cards we aren’t sure everyone would pick. Here is how we see Class 5A fleshing out. If we didn’t pick your team and you see a district opponent listed among our top-5, that means we don’t think you see round three. Let the water-cooler debates commence. HB.

@joe_humphreys2 from @DCHS_Football is the @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week. @1776Bank @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @TheOwensboro

This week’s Protein-packed Performer of the week get little attention even though he is a 3-star, nationally rated QB-prospect playing 6A football in one of Kentucky’s more densely populated areas. Of course, the QB playing cross-town, at Owensboro Senior, is also among Kentucky’s top signal callers in the same graduating class, ’22. Enjoy this look at Joe Humphreys from Daviess County and remember to join us again next week as we award this distinction to another fine player and outstanding student and citizen. HB.

Andrew Lanz from @SrHighFootball is the @1776Bank “Revolutionary Player of the Week.” @minguabeefjecky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball

December 18, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

This week’s “Revolutionary Player of the Week” is Andrew Lanz (2023), one of Kentucky’s top place-kickers in the high school game. We pride ourselves on performance and, to render an exceptional performance, no one knows better than Independence Bank that competitors have to fuss over both the important things, obvious to everybody, and the less obvious things most casual fans overlook. That is how competitors become champions. Saturday, two teams with strong Independence Bank branches (Bowling Green and Owensboro) will battle for the 5A crown. Go on by one of those branches in either town and see our friends at your local Independence Bank. Thank them, not just for this series, but for the outstanding service and products which have started a revolution in the banking industry. Enjoy the article. HB.

Who wins…who loses, tomorrow night in the Semi-finals. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KHSAAFootball (Featured Photo: Les Dixon, Times-Tribune)

Here are our picks for the Semi-finals occurring tomorrow night. West Carter should be thrilled we didn’t pick them as it seems every time we disrespect them, they come away routing the other team. We may just disrespect them right into a championship. Anyway, there are several “upsets” we have taken here as this year has been anything but normal. Fletcher Long was furious with our Hoptown prediction (his alma mater) and vows we are all “crazy.” We shall see. HB.
