Zander Curry is a throwback to the days when college football stars were versatile and called upon often to contribute to the team’s efforts in all three phases of the game. This kid scores TD’s, long-snaps, houses kick-offs, makes tackles, recovers fumbles, and even intercepts passes (7-INT’s in ’22). Kade Elam has killed it all year for his undefeated Corbin Redounds. Coming into the Championship in 4A, they have been the team discounted and overlooked all year, in spite of going 14-0 and having the highest RPI in the 4A classification. We thought it would be a good idea to award Elam a box of protein goodness to fortify him for the final push toward the Title. This prospect has been likened to Wandale Robinson. We watch him and believe him to be more of a Jay Becherer clone. Regardless, he is likened to two exceptional former high school players both of whom flourished in college. We believe before it is said and done, this kid here will do likewise. Not everyone hits the lineup when the “experts” believe they should. In some programs it is much harder to hit the field than in others. That shouldn’t diminish the ability and skill exhibited by young interior bigs like Hayden Baker from Corbin however. Especially when he is so willing to put in the offseason work. Enjoy the feature. If you can truly watch this kid’s film and walk up and stand toe to toe with him and think this kid is only an 8th-grader, then I just don’t know what to say. Kids coming out of middle school these days are looking like this more and more. Hate to pull an “in my day” but, in my day, we didn’t have kids in 8th grade this solid, this long, this athletic, this aggressive. We just didn’t. They have put out a ton of college talent around the Corbin program. Mark this one down as another one on the near horizon. There will be plenty of ink spilled on this kid. Among the statewide coverage, we were first. HB.

Mingua Beef Jerky tagged us a video of Brayden Reynolds bench pressing 420-pounds. Man, is that powerful for a kid who weighs 226, or for any kid. We were so impressed we decided to “research” him and discover what kind of football player he is. We learned he is really something.
