’28 RB/LB tearing it up so far defensively

The Owensboro “Red Devils” are among the winningest, high school football programs in America. Right now we believe them to be the 27th winningest program in America according to the online website, NFL Play Football. That means when a sophomore finds the lineup on a roster that isn’t just a top-flight, 5A roster; but, a roster coming off a 5A KHSAA football title, it is significant and worthy of a feature. When that same 6’0,” 175-pound sophomore registers 73-tackles, 6-TFLs, a pair of sacks, an INT, and wins a KHSAA Track & Field title in the long jump (19’5″), he generally ends up winning one of our weekly distinctions. That is how Mikai Kindle won this award for instance.

Big Ass Fans from Lexington, Kentucky has a simple corporate goal. The company is “creating a more comfortable world,” one fan at a time.

The logo is the rear of a donkey (Fanny) swishing its tail back and forth. The trademarked logo is among Kentucky’s more celebrated and well known corporate identities across the commonwealth and has come to represent commitment to quality, cutting-edge innovation, and product reliability.

Big Ass Fans is so much more than just a gigantic fan. It is gigantic quality, gigantic performance, and a gigantic commitment to reliability and innovation. Its size is far from the only selling point about our product.

Our product is a Kentucky Comfort Creator. These days, isn’t that exactly what Kentucky needs?

This week our feature is about Mikai Kindle. Kindle plays for defending 5A KHSAA football champions, Owensboro (Senior) High, and was a star on the football team as a linebacker and on the Track & Field team as a long jumper, where he also took home a Kentucky title. Kindle appears likely to contribute to the ’26 ball club in more than just on defense as he registered 14-carries, scored a rushing TD, and caught a pass last year in limited offensive run.

Owensboro, KY: Mikai Kindle was quite the athlete and defensive performer over the 15-games of run he earned for Kentucky’s premier 5A football team for the 2025 season. By year’s end a season ago, it appeared obvious to us (and virtually anyone else with eyes) that the Red Devils were the “unbeatable team” at its level of play.

By the time the Red Devils got around to routing its title game opponent (Pulaski County, 35-7), everyone seemed cued in to that little secret. The Red Devils lost two early season games, then found its stride and won the next 13-straight.

Owensboro had plenty of talent on its roster in ’25 including Mr. Football, Evan Hampton, now at Vanderbilt. Owensboro has plenty of talent returning. That is great news for second year head man, DeMarcus Ganaway.

Head Football Coach at Owensboro (Senior) High is one of Kentucky’s better jobs. It is the 27th winningest program in the country’s high school football history.

Mikai Kindle had a huge year as a sophomore defensively. Kindle registered 73-tackles, 6-TFLs, a pair of sacks, an INT. This spring, Kindle won a KHSAA Track & Field title in the long jump (19’5″).

Kindle played some offense, but sparingly. The 6’0,” 175-pounder registered 14-carries for 68-yards and a TD. Kindle caught a pass.

Kindle is 6’0,” 175-pounds of explosive athlete and a long jump, KHSAA champion in Track & Field

Kindle is listed around 6’0,” and weighs in the 175-pound range. This is deceiving as his explosion (long jump champion) and length permits his playing well taller than he lists.

Among his best defensive numbers are his TFLs and QB-sacks. Too many young players just wait on plays to come to them.

As players mature, they learn to get down hill and make plays behind the sticks. Numbers which leave opponents in down and distance crises will separate players from their competition and insure the players get plenty of next level looks.

For right now, Kindle is focused on doing whatever he is called upon to insure his team has every chance to repeat as 5A champions in 2026. Last season’s 13-2 is in the rear view mirror and coming up with a prime time ball carrier will be first on the team’s agenda, this spring, and on into the summer.

The Red Devils will be tough. They always are.

Owensboro has plenty of athletic talent roaming its hallways. Lots of “Kindles” in the Senior High football Field-house.

In Kindle, the Red Devils have a very versatile piece of football equipment. We know the kid can contribute more to the passing game. We believe him capable of contributing more to the ground game and in multiple other phases.

You know we love his versatility and his athleticism. We just love him!
