Senior QB and Louisville baseball commit tearing up his senior season
Kade Elam is a “Mr. Football” candidate who is playing so well on the gridiron he is getting FBS offers in football to go along with the Power 4 commitment in baseball he has already announced his intention to accept. Elam looks headed to the University of Louisville (ACC) to play baseball in college. It is a shame (in one sense), because he is a “Mr. Football” candidate and playing like one. He may be among the top 3-5 QBs in the Bluegrass, this season, and that is saying something.

I believe Kade Elam and I have a song in common. One of my favorite songs is “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night).”

It was written by the keyboard player for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Bob Gaudio and his future wife, Judy Parker. The lead vocals were performed by Gerry Polci and the band’s front guy, Frankie Valli, sung the bridge sections and backing vocals. Don Ciccone, the bass player, contributed the falsetto.
The single was released in December of 1975 and hit the top of the UK Singles Chart on February 21, 1976. Billboard magazine ranked it the number four song of 1976. It was one of several Four Seasons’ songs to reach number one. Valli would hit number one as a solo act, in 1978, with the theme song to the classic movie, Grease.
The reason I believe Kade Elam will be finding this song on the internet, and appreciating it very soon, is it could well have been written about his game against Johnson Central’s Golden Eagles this past weekend. Oh, What a Night, in deed!
Elam completed 18 of 24 passes for 421-yards and six (6) TDs against Johnson Central
KHSAA statistical website
Elam, against one of the more traditionally strong programs in Kentucky 4A, completed 18 of his 24 passing attempts (75% passing rate) for 421-yards and 6-TDs with an INT. Elam was also the leading rusher for the Redounds, gaining 142-yards in only 10-carries, two of which he carried across the goal line for TDs.

Not to mimic Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, but…Oh, What a Night! Elam has been having quite a year.
In ’24, Elam has completed 109 of his 149-passing attempts, for 1,694-yards and 17-TDs against two-INTs. He has rushed for 360-yards and nine (9) TDs in his six (6) games. He has completed 73.2% of his passes on the year and has his team sitting 5-1 on the season.
The Redhounds are ranked the 15th best team in the KHSAA, regardless of classification (DRI), and are 7th in 4A in the present RPI. Corbin has a Letcher County, Whitley County, Perry County Central, and Pulaski County upcoming finish; so, the Redhounds look likely to enter the playoffs 9-1.
Should that occur, and should they continue to get the play from their QB they have gotten thus far, Oh, What a Night may morph into Oh, What a Year. Corbin is already working on the lyrics!
