Slow Motion Replay: Jack Haskins rode off into history, like one tin soldier @McCrackenStangs, @pths_football, @TCEonSGPN, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

This may prove to be the longest article of the series. This is already the longest series in magazine history. It is something else too. It is the most important undertaking we have ever before attempted. It is critically important we remember this guys before they fade into the dustbin of our collective memories. Jack Haskins did something in WKY we thought we would see. In a sea of “ground and pound” offenses and steady, “crowd the run box” defenses, Haskins filled the Friday Night air with leather. Of course, when you have 1989’s “Mr. Football” at QB, Pookie Jones, you have to incorporate an offensive system which complements your personnel. That is what Haskins did at Calloway County and the landscape, out west, has never looked the same. Enjoy this installment of this series featuring a guy who was a revolutionary, offensively, to the KHSAA game.

The great thing about high school football stars is often they are the guy who grew up down the street, went to church with us, and even look like us. The college guys are often inhuman, but the high school guys are “Regular Joes.” They are the boy next door. They are what is best about us if you really think about it. Aden Bolden is among the very best football players in Kentucky. He had a tremendous junior season, make the Big Ass Fan’s All-State, Small School, Football Team, and is now our Protein-packed Performer of the Week. Enjoy this feature and remember to #SavorTheFlavor.

JJ Austin is a workhorse for one of Kentucky’s premier programs. He leads the team in rushing, and rushing the football is what the Pirates do best. JJ is also more than a token defender. What will he do in ’25, as a senior? One might say he is “in the lead” to represent the “Big Ass Fans” Small School All-State Football Offense at FB/LB in 2025. It is still early. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it cool out there Kentucky!

Looking for a Mr. Football? We may have the man, right here, in Jarren Johnson from Union County! @55CoachJohns, @JarrenJohnson1_, @ChiefSmoke10, @sportingtimes, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

It is getting time to vote for “Mr. Football” around Kentucky. There are plenty of candidates this year who have taken their teams to unimaginable heights. One candidate who shouldn’t be discounted nor overlooked is Union County’s Jarren Johnson. This guy here has had a “Mr. Football-type” season for the very reasons we discuss herein. Enjoy the feature.

Who is set to take the 2A title in football this Fall? We like the ‘little team which could,’ the Aces from Owensboro Catholic @CroweDereon @OCath_Football @SrHighFootball @minguabeefjerky @840WHAS @BradyAtwell5

Every year we like Owensboro Catholic to challenge for a title in 2A. Every year they seem to do just that before dropping a game in a late round. Last year, the Aces had the ball, down five, with a chance to go down the field and win the title and fell just shy of the mark. We like these guys to “do it” in ’24. We are taking them to win it. Enjoy the article. Friday Night Fletch.

Gatorade’s slogan, or one of them at least is, “Is it in you?” That is a very appropriate question and one which bears on how this kid came to commit to EKU. Hensley’s father was a four year football letterman at EKU and both his parents graduated from EKU. Do you know what is in him other than a legacy to EKU? We think the Gatorade Kentucky High School Player of the Year. Give this man a Gatorade. Enjoy the feature. Friday Night Fletch

@BelfryFootball1 reloads, not rebuilds, with @Dre_young5 stepping in next year for Isaac Dixon. @1776Bank @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @BluegrassPreps

How does any program replace a Mr. Football in the offensive backfield. Well, when that program is Belfry, they do it with a young talent who has shown he won’t shy from having to fill shoes that size. It must stink having to play Belfry all the time. When does the endless wave of superior football playing talent ever ebb? Seemingly never. Enjoy the feature. HB.
